This algorithm can be considered as a generalization to both windowing and dynamic waveform model of the well-known three-parameter sine-fitting (3PSF) algorithm when the waveform offset is assumed to be null. The analytical expressions for the phasor, frequency, and Rate Of Change of Frequency (ROCOF) are derived. Several computer simulations performed under different steady-state and dynamic conditions compliant with the IEEE Standard C37.118.1-2011 about synchrophasor measurements for power systems and its related Amendment IEEE Standard C37.118.1a-2014 show that the real-valued and the classical complex-valued TWLS algorithms return the same results. However, the real-valued approach requires a lower processing effort. Furthermore, the accuracies of sine-wave amplitude and phase estimates returned by the real-valued TWLS algorithms as well as the 3PSF algorithm when the analyzed waveform is affected by different static or dynamic disturbances are compared by means of simulations. The achieved results show that the proposed algorithm provides more accurate results than both the classical 3PSF algorithm and its generalization based on data windowing.","PeriodicalId":288670,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems Proceedings (AMPS)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123337955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The continuity of the electricity distribution service is therefore a key topic. Network automation is aimed at improving service continuity. Among the several possible automation schemes, logic selectivity between protection relays is one of the most effective approach because it allow to reduce the area affected by the fault at the very same time of the event. IEC 61850 provides a standard way to implement automation. The paper describes a laboratory setup where the logic selectivity - based on the IEC 61850 - was tested before moving relays to a real field demonstrator. In recent years, many synchrophasor estimation algorithms have been proposed to deal with the operative conditions identified by the standard, that can be both steady state and dynamic. The research has shown that some disturbances, such as interharmonic interfering signals, can seriously degrade synchrophasor measurement accuracy. In this work, a new two-stage approach, relying on Compressive Sensing (CS) and Taylor Fourier Transform (TFT), is proposed to identify the most relevant interfering components in the signal spectrum and to limit their impact on synchrophasor estimation. Simulation results are reported to confirm the algorithm efficiency.","PeriodicalId":288670,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems Proceedings (AMPS)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129188269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasing performances are then required to voltage and current instrument transformers, in terms of both accuracy and frequency bandwidth. With reference to these requirements, low power non-conventional instrument transformers, which typically show better performances than the conventional inductive instrument transformer, are expected to rapidly diffuse in power system monitoring applications. Because of the low level of their output, the calibration of such instruments cannot be performed with the classical set-ups designed for conventional instrument transformers. In the paper, a test set for the calibration of non-conventional current instrument transformer working with current down to the 0.1 mA level, is presented. The considered set-up, intended for use in industrial environment, allows calibration from DC to 4 kHz with target uncertainties within 100 μA/A and 100 μrad. The working principle and the configuration of the developed test set are discussed and preliminary experimental results related to its characterization are shown.","PeriodicalId":288670,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems Proceedings (AMPS)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122611435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main feature of the developed IPS is the ability to interact with both the grid and the DG's and ESS's inverters. Not only in the well-known high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission but also as DC powered marine system, DC data center and DC fast charging system for electric vehicles. DC is now challenging the alternative current (AC) in a large variety of fast growing markets. However a galvanically isolated DC voltage measurement for low and medium voltage is, from the technical and scientific point of view, still far behind the AC voltage measurement methods. In this paper a new giant magnetoresistive (GMR) based sensor system for galvanic isolated DC voltage measurement is introduced. The measurement system consists mainly of a special coil arrangement with low inductance, a GMR sensor, AD converters and a low-cost FPGA. The voltage sensor system showed an outstanding measurement accuracy of 0.3% for voltage values up to ±550V in a temperature range from -30°C to 90°C. This completely new approach for the galvanic isolated measurement of electric voltages avoids the use of bulky magnetic components and expensive power consuming analog electronics.","PeriodicalId":288670,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems Proceedings (AMPS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123351563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With double voltage supplies, this offset can be adjusted near to zero. However for sensors powered with a single voltage supply, a remarkable amount of voltage offset still remains. This undesired rest offset causes inaccuracy in most applications. In this paper a novel method is proposed to minimize voltage offset error of Open Loop Hall Effect Current sensors powered with single voltage supply.
