Broiler farms in Tanjung Gunung, District Jombang near the fields, water, and trees. This could be increase the population of vectors infection Leucocytozoonosis and Plasmodiosis. The main purpose of this researchis to detect Leucocytozoonosis and Plasmodiosis infections on broiler farms in Tnjung Gunung Village, District Jombang using 50 broiler chickens by Purposive Sampling  of 2 bredeers. The result show rhat there are 6 positive samples infected Leucocytozoonosis, while Plasmodiosis infection could not be fond. Method that used in the research was completely randomized design. There were five treatments of physiological NaCl solution (K-), piperazine sitrate (K+), etanol extract of bitter leaf 0,35% (P1), etanol extract of bitter leaf 1,4% (P2), etanol extract of bitter leaf 4,2% (P3), and each treatment was done in four replications. This research used ten Ascaridia galli in each treatment for all replications. The observation and recording of dead Ascaridia galli was done at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 hours. Ascaridia galli were declared dead if there was no movement when disturbed by anatomy tweezer and when dipped in slightly warm water (50°C). The obtained data was analyzed using ANAVA and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test. The result of this research show that etanol extract of bitter leaf (Vernonia amygdalina) has anthelmintic effects against Ascaridia galli worm in Vitro. In the extract with 4,2% concentration, there is anthelmintic property that almost the same as Piperazine sitrate 10 mg/ml. the higher the concentration of extract, the higher the property of anthelmintic. In probit analysis show that EC50 achieved by concentration 2.093% with the low concentration of .002% and the highest concentration of 3.632%. LT50 of ethanol extract of bitter leaf was 0.35% at 10.323 hours, 1.4% at 9.800 hours, 4.2% at 7.864 hours and Piperazine sitrate 10 mg/ml at 9.013 hours.","PeriodicalId":288276,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Parasite Science","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126440413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Protozoa infection of the gastrointestinal tract can cause diarrhea and even zoonosis. This research aimed to identify and determine the prevalence of protozoan in cats in animal hostptal and animal clinic in Surabaya. Pigeon taken from five regions of Surabaya namely North Surabaya, East Surabaya, West Surabaya, South Surabaya and Surabaya Center. Each region is taken as many as 20 pigeons consisted of 10 pigeons with extensive maintenance system  and 10 pigeons with intensif maintenance system. So that the total overall sample is 100 pigeons. Laboratory examination (microscopic) was conducted in November 2017 until January 2017. Examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract using throat swabs and stool samples were examined with native methods, sedimentation, and flotation. Identification using a microscope using 40x objective scale and 10x oculer scale to determine gastrointestinal protozoal that was found. Data was analyzed using Chi Square Test statistical analysis. Results showed 78% of the positive samples gastrointestinal protozoa infections in pigeons in the city of Surabaya. Results of Chi Square Test statistical analysis showed a p value of 0.030 (p<0.05) which means significantly different. Types of protozoa found that Trichomonas gallinae (49%) and Eimeria sp. (61%). The prevalence of gastrointestinal protozoal pigeons on extensive maintenance sistem  was higher (44%) compared to the intensive caresis system(34%).","PeriodicalId":288276,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Parasite Science","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132691422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei which has a predilection in stratum corneum and lucidum. Clinical symptoms was characterized by papula or crusting of the skin. This study presents a laboratory explorative research with cross sectional approach. Samples used 20 rabbits that infested scabies naturally. Data obtained by performing diagnostic burrow ink test method and skin scrapping in rabbits which are infested scabies naturally. KAPPA test used as data analysis. Results showed that the number of positive results based on burrow ink test method are 12 rabbits and 8 rabbits are negative while skin scrapping obtained the positive results are 11 rabbits and 9 rabbits are negative. KAPPA test analysis performed on the overall study data was obtained 0,490. The conclusion of this study is burrow ink test method has a good conformity with the skin scrapping in rabbits which are infested scabies naturally that can be used for diagnostic analysis of scabies with a simple method, faster, and have the same ability with skin scrapping without hurting animals.","PeriodicalId":288276,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Parasite Science","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124232112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
