This kind of channel model includes jointly multipath fading and shadowing. It is very versatile and accurately approximates many of the commonly used channel models as Nakagami-m, Log-Normal distributions. Simulation results are discussed and proved to be in good agreement with our theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128769431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first part of the paper clarifies this geometric relationship that will be exploited later on in the design of a pre-processing stage for the proposed receiver. This pre-processing finds a set of successive minima in the dual lattice, and is only required at each channel update. The subsequent symbol detection algorithm exclusively involves a linear transformation (the pseudo-inverse) in order to generate a list of candidate solutions for the underlying closest vector problem (CVP). The receiver outperforms ordered successive interference cancellation and, in the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, also outperforms lattice-reduction-aided receivers at the expense of a “true” sphere-decoder that runs only once per channel update, and not for each received vector.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133721620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fMRI signals exhibit a 1/f power spectrum, hence their structure has self-similarity and long memory, being usually successfully analyzed by different fractal analysis methods without a previous knowledge of haemodynamic models. Therefore, to validate activation detection using the MF-DFA method, a comparison study between images obtained using General Linear Model (GLM) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA) was conducted and evaluated by discrimination power, applying Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis to the results.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131276531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parameters of clutter, noise and interference, and in some cases Doppler specifications, are the basis for most of current CFAR target detection techniques. When these parameters are unknown, most of current detection methods do not perform well. In this paper, a detection approach is introduced using time-frequency (TF) signal analysis. The method is non-parametric and by analysis of the spectrogram of the input, the presence of target signal is localized in time domain. Then, the signal detection is achieved using an adaptive thresholding.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"7 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113979432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synthetic images are employed in a novel multiple view X-ray imaging technique to produce an animated or kinetic depth effect in a visual display. The synthetic views reduce the total number of X-ray detectors required during the image acquisition process. A quantitative analysis of the feature matching performance of the SIFT is presented along with a comparative study of the synthetic imagery. We show that the total number of matches produced by SIFT reduces as the angular separation between the generating views increases. This effect is accompanied by an increase in the total number of synthetic pixel errors. The trends observed are obtained from 15 different luggage items.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117133769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on easily available vibration data, a transformation to a high-dimensional vector space is performed. By defining a metric in this vector space, the distance between the actual compressor state and a reference compressor state is calculated. Excessive distances indicate a faulty compressor. Since large distances may be due not only to faulty valves but also to non-steady-state load conditions, this method is applied only to the steady-state operating mode.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117178796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For that, an orthophotoplan segmentation method based on a cooperation technique including edge based segmentation and region based segmentation is proposed. Both segmentation techniques are assured by watershed algorithm. The proposed strategy is composed of three steps: (i) A simplification step that consists in simplifying the image with an appropriate couple of invariant/gradient optimized for the application. (ii) The second step is composed of two main treatments: On the one hand, the image is segmented by the watershed regions coupled with an efficient regions merging technique. On the other hand, the image is segmented by the watershed lines. (iii) The third step consists in exploiting the advantages of each method and thus achieve a reliable segmentation results. Tests have been performed on an orthophotoplan containing 100 roofs with varying complexity and evaluated with Vinet criteria using a ground truth image.","PeriodicalId":288042,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115571861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
