Integrated Pest Management (IPM): IPM is an approach that combines various pest management strategies, including biological control, to minimize the use of synthetic pesticides while effectively managing pests. It involves monitoring pest populations, using natural enemies like predatory insects, deploying pheromones or traps, and adopting cultural practices to create unfavorable conditions for pests. IPM promotes sustainable pest control and reduces the risks associated with pesticide use. Biological Control: Biological control utilizes living organisms, such as beneficial insects, mites, nematodes, and microorganisms, to suppress pests. This approach can be implemented through augmentation, where natural enemies are released into the field, or conservation, which involves creating habitats and providing resources to enhance the population of natural enemies. Modern technologies are enabling the mass production and efficient release of beneficial organisms, improving their effectiveness as biological control agents. Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology: Genetic engineering techniques allow for the development of genetically modified (GM) crops with traits that confer resistance to pests, diseases, or herbicides. For example, crops can be engineered to produce insecticidal proteins that are toxic to specific pests, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Biotechnology also plays a role in developing diagnostic tools for early detection of pests and diseases, helping farmers take timely preventive or control measures.","PeriodicalId":287976,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Agriculture and Environment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121653327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Renewable energy is an alternative to fossil fuels and nowadays attracts a lot of attention. Among renewable energy sources, solar energy is the most important because it is available worldwide. This energy source is also used in various industries including agriculture and can be used to grow crops in the world's most remote corners. In addition, this fuel does not cause pollution, such as other fossil fuels The use of solar energy can be active in all agricultural fields. This will certainly help meet the growing need for agricultural products as the population grows. However, agricultural land is known to have a fixed area, and sometimes, agricultural products cannot be cultivated. This greenhouse is a method used nowadays and the use of solar energy can help build solar greenhouses in areas far from the city. Other solar applications include irrigation, drying products and ventilation outlets. In this study, researchers discussed some of the benefits of solar energy in agriculture.","PeriodicalId":287976,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Agriculture and Environment","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116229842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study highlights the specific challenges posed by climate change and its associated factors, including water scarcity, decreased crop yields, pests and diseases, saltwater intrusion, and reduced fish stocks. These factors intertwine with Egypt's unique geographical and climatic characteristics, placing its agricultural sector at heightened vulnerability. The abstract emphasizes how water scarcity exacerbates existing challenges due to the arid climate and growing population. Rising temperatures and altered precipitation patterns lead to increased evaporation rates, reduced water availability, and disruptions in the Nile River's water flow, impacting irrigation systems and agricultural productivity. Moreover, higher temperatures and irregular rainfall adversely affect crop growth, particularly for heat-sensitive crops like wheat and fruits, resulting in decreased crop yields. Climate change also influences the distribution and abundance of pests and diseases, with warmer temperatures and altered rainfall patterns favoring their proliferation. This intensifies the risk of crop losses and necessitates costly pest management measures. Additionally, rising sea levels and increased salinity intrusion from the Mediterranean Sea threaten agricultural lands in the Nile Delta, leading to saltwater contamination of freshwater resources and reduced agricultural productivity. The implications of these changes on Egypt's fishing industry are discussed, as changes in sea temperatures and ocean acidification affect fish stocks, impacting food security.","PeriodicalId":287976,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Agriculture and Environment","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128484311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
