It is recommended that proof-of-concept interoperability should be preformed before full scope integration, and it is crucial to adopt interoperability testing as part of site commissioning test. Interoperability testing is the next step forward after conformance test to ensure an IEC 61850 based substation automation system will interoperate as it is designed in the field. Conformance test can reduce the number of costly issues and problems during integration, site commissioning and operation. Devices passed conformance test may still subject to issues during integration, commissioning and operation. Conformance test does not mean interoperability test. Cascade application of SPDs located at the service entrance of a building and near sensitive equipment is intended to ensure optimal energy distribution among installed SPDs, as well as proper equipment protection against surges. In the paper, scenarios of surges that are impinging at the service entrance of the building of interest and application of two-stage cascade protection have been analyzed. The influence of different cables lengths: arrester - suppressor (A-S) and suppressor - load (S-L), as well as influence of type and parameters of load on SPDs protection characteristics have been analyzed and discussed. Simulation programs ATP/EMTP and MATLAB are being used for analysis of several load types, namely resistive, inductive, capacitive, resistive - inductive and resistive -capacitive load, with the parameters of real devices which can be found in low-voltage AC power circuits. Single phase switching has become an increasingly more viable approach to the operation of EHV systems in recent years. Indeed, single phase reclosing, if successful, represents a significant step in improving system performance and is an attractive, economical means of obtaining acceptable transient stability with fewer lines. Single phase reclosing has the additional benefits of reducing switching overvoltages. This paper describes the simulation study of secondary arc extinction due to single line to ground fault and then clearing the faulted line. The work is performed by EMTP on the Thailand 500 kV transmission line from Mae Moh to Tha Ta Ko. During the research, the problem can be changed into the transmission process analysis of the instant pulse current produced from the process of IGBT on-off, the refrain of structural stability problem which caused by IGBTpsila control voltage translated into interdiction of the spreading plus of the instant electric pulse or attenuation of spreading path, after the research of switching power supply in methods of simulation and test result. This accurate device was established to cover ranges from 10 mV to 500 mV at frequencies up to 20 kHz. The device was entirely implemented in NIS as a part of upgrading process for the calibration capabilities of the AC functions. These capabilities include the accurate calibration of the highly precise digital multimeters and multifunction calibrators. The construction of the design as well as its characteristics is presented in this paper. A new software using Lab-View program was prepared to drive the practical setup of the measuring system. A proposed modeling of this design is also performed and subjected for electrical simulation to compare between the practical and the theoretical results. A number of case studies are presented with respect to currently operational micro-, midi- and macro wind turbines within England and Scotland. Presently, the micro-, midi- and macro wind turbines have been categorised as those that have their nominal output within 0-2 kW, 2-20 kW and Gt20 kW power bands. Their electrical energy generation data have been critically analysed. In particular the turbinespsila capacity factor, the annual energy output and payback period are presented. It has been found that within urban settings micro-turbines perform poorly and hence they are uneconomical. The payback period for midi-turbines located at rural, high-altitude locations with clear horizons are of much shorter order. However, the sitting of such turbines is critical. For large public sector organisations, such as universities and institutions of higher education with a high electrical energy demand and base load, large, megawatt machines provide a sustainable and economic solution. It has been shown that for one Scottish university, presently under discussion, two 1.25 MW wind turbines provide the economical option with a payback period of 7.4 years. The capacity factor for the latter machine, to be located 35 km west of university campus will be around 0.14. The procedure utilizes locally measured phase currents and voltages and has been designed to operate with double-circuit power lines. The algorithm calculates on-line shift vector components that allow to change the position of relay operating characteristics. As a result, it is possible to avoid mis- or maloperation of the distance relay. The power compensator has been developed to reduce its line voltage fluctuation caused by powering and braking trains. A number of charges and discharges deteriorates the lithium-ion battery and reduces the efficacy of the compensator. The proposed methods reduce the number of charges and discharges for prolonging the battery life by an insertion of a lowpass filter to the control circuit. The control method with the filter reduces the number of charging and discharging by 34%. Although the efficacy of the line voltage stabilization to rapid voltage change is decreased by the method, a parallel operation with an EDLC unit, whose capacity of 3% to that of the battery, complements the stabilization. It deals with the management of commercial, operational and administrative functions pertaining to estimating coal requirements, selection of coal suppliers, coal quality check, transportation and coal handling, payment for coal received, consumption and calculation of coal efficiency. The results are then used for cost benefit analysis to suggest further plant improvement. At various levels, management information reports need to be extracted to communicate the required information across various levels of management. The core processes of coal management involve a huge amount of paper work and manual labour, which makes it tedious, time-consuming and prone to human errors. Moreover, the time taken at each stage as well as the transparency of the relevant information has a direct bearing on the economics and efficient operation of the power plant. Both system performance and information transparency can be enhanced by the introduction of Information Technology in managing this area.
