It applies a two-fold focus: first examining the importance\u0000of return for Romanians in London; then considering how experiences\u0000of temporary return shape migrants’ social networks. First, he highlights\u0000the value of the book. He notes that the book is the result of Kulikauskienė‘s longterm\u0000research into traditional peasant men’s clothing, and the reconstruction and\u0000creation of the Lithuanian national clothes in relation to it. Ethnographic fieldwork,\u0000which began in the 1960s, took place within the context of the preparation\u0000of the ‘Historical Ethnographic Atlas of Baltic National Clothes’. Until then, research\u0000into women’s traditional clothing, which had been carried out for several\u0000decades, and the well-established picture of their regional sets, contrasted with\u0000men’s clothing as depicted mostly in a variety of fragmentary literary texts.\u0000After a few years, the ethnographic information covering the entire territory\u0000of Lithuania began to appear in Kulikauskienė’s articles published in various local\u0000monographs. After supplementing the data gathered during the ethnographic\u0000field-trips with literary material, and researching in museums and archives,\u0000Kulikauskienė wrote and sucessfully defended her doctoral dissertation. At the\u0000same time, an introductory text for the ‘Historical Ethnographic Atlas of Baltic\u0000National Clothes’ was written, and maps were compiled. The atlas was published\u0000in Riga in 1985. Before that, Kulikauskienė published a series of articles on\u0000clothing, and wrote a manuscript for this monograph. The ethnologists Dr Irma\u0000Šidiškienė and Dr Dalia Bernotaitė-Beliauskienė took the initiative and prepared\u0000the final version of the manuscript, selected illustrations, and wrote footnotes\u0000and explanations.
