A classical PI controller is used for the load voltage regulation due to its slow dynamics with respect to fast changing current. A much faster hysteresis band current controller is used for the current control which has ease of physical implementation. The power factor corrected boost converter is simulated under different load conditions. The obtained results are presented. Recent advances in the field of Industry 4.0 bring into discussion emerging thermal issues due to extended networking and computational requirements, combined with the ongoing efforts of embedded systems miniaturization. Because of the tight constraints applied to the process, achieving an optimal cooling solution represents a challenging perspective. From this point of view, approaches based on conservative assumptions can no longer be acceptable. While multiphysics simulation software can cope with the multiple viewports of the thermal design process, the complexity of such approaches can be overwhelming. The present work addresses such issues by combining discrete event simulation with computer aided engineering software, supported by experimental methods. The Japanese language is one of the most difficult language because of the very large number of characters or classes of objects to be identified, and many recognition systems have been proposed. A new way of recognizing Japanese printed characters is presented in this paper. The proposed method is based on the modeling with microstrip lines of the character topological structure and the analysis using microwave engineering methods. The spectral distribution of the resonance frequencies is used as a local descriptor in the recognition process. A deep convolutional recurrent network is used for the classification step. The proposed method ensures good accuracy in the Japanese character recognition process using the lowest number of descriptors among the methods described in the literature. However, these principles were first proposed and described by Taswell in 2006 as the foundation for work on the PORTAL-DOORS Project (PDP) and the Nexus-PORTAL-DOORS-Scribe (NPDS) cyberinfrastructure, and have been published in numerous conference presentations, journal articles, and patents. This work on PDP and NPDS has been continuously available since 2007 from a publicly accessible web site at www.portaldoors.org, and discussed in person at conferences with several key authors of the Wilkinson et al. papers. Paraphrasing without citing the PDP and NPDS principles while renaming them as the FAIR principles raises questions about both the ‘FAIRness’ and the fairness of the authors of the Wilkinson et al. papers. Promoting these principles with the use of the term ‘metrics’, which are not metrics by definition of the term metric as used in most fields of science, also raises questions about their commitment to maintaining consistency of usage for basic terminology across different fields of science as should be expected for terms in ontology mapping with knowledge engineering for the semantic web. Therefore, in the present report, we clarify the origin of their FAIR principles by identifying our PDP and NPDS principles that constitute the historical precedent for their FAIR principles. Moreover, as the comprehensively summarizing phrase for all of our PDP and NPDS principles, we rename them the DREAM principles with the acronym DREAM for Discoverable Data with Reproducible Results for Equivalent Entities with Accessible Attributes and Manageable Metadata. Traditional methods to protect house premises against intruders include security guards and CCTV cameras which is labor intensive, expensive and unreliable. In this paper, we propose a wireless, intelligent, affordable and portable IoT based home security system. The input unit consisting of multiple sensors is placed at the entry points of the house. The SONAR, motion and sound sensor capture the situation at entry points. The sensor data is collected and wirelessly transmitted by NodeMCU to the Raspberry Pi server via an online database. The server uses logistic regression classification algorithm to detect human presence at the gate. Once intruder is detected, alerts are generated to the user and camera mounted on the input unit is turned on to take pictures. Facial recognition unit is also incorporated to detect known versus unknown faces. Computer-aided diagnosis systems are widely used by specialists as help for detecting and analyzing suspicions regions in medical digital images. Various types of medical digital images and numerous diseases that can be detected on them make this wide research field. One of the diseases that can be detected in lung CT images is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or emphysema. In this paper we analyzed the capabilities of texture descriptors, local binary pattern, for detecting and classification of emphysema. Three different types of local binary pattern are used. Instead of using a whole local binary pattern operator output, statistical measurements have been used. Support vector machine optimized by elephant herding optimization algorithm was used for classification.
