The place of discovery is located in the neighbourhoods of the Geto‑Dacian sites from Târcov – Piatra cu Lilieci, Cârlomănești and Pietroasele – Gruiu Dării. The appearance of the coins, in different stages of wear and with numerous incised control‑marks, probably due to the activity of nummularii, indicates a “circulation coin hoard” that reached the north of the Danube in a pre‑constituted form. The denarii fall chronologically between 179– 170 and 19 BC, the imitation having as prototype the denarius of P. Clodius from 42 BC. The core of the hoard consists of three compact groups totalling 51 denarii, each in almost uninterrupted chronological succession, attesting to the intervals 118– 105, 91– 68 and 58– 40 BC. The best documented is the period of Caesar’s ascension, wars and dictatorship, until after the establishment of the 2nd triumvirate, the coins of the 50‑41 decade representing over 25% of the total. The deposit ends with Octavian issues, the last two denarii bearing the title CAESAR AVGVSTVS. It is the first hoard from the time of Augustus discovered on the territory of Buzău County, having as main analogies in terms of chronology and structure the hoards from Valea (Strâmba), Dâmbovița County and Sfântu Gheorghe, Covasna counties. The circumstances of the concealment of the coin hoard are integrated into the context generated by a series of events related by written sources, which took place between about 17/ 16 BC– 10/ 12 AD, which culminated in the relocation of an entire Getic population from north of the Danube, archaeologically confirmed by the cessation of habitation in the great davae and settlements of Wallachia.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126458606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the Starcevo‐ Criș communities at both sites used obsidian that originated from geological sources in the Carpathians. Obsidian from the C1 and C2 source areas occurs at Măgura, while only C1 obsidian has been documented in the much smaller assemblage from Uliești. We consider the implications of these results for obsidian procurement patterns documented among the earliest farmers of the northern Balkans.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125203796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dwellings belonged to various types but all had ovens built of stones. It is remarkable the high proportion of clay pans among the exclusively handmade pottery. The dwellings were dated based on analogies but above all by 14C analysis. Based on these the settlement could have been founded already in the middle of the 5th century and it was abandoned latest by the middle of the 7th century.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115101987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dating and archaeological evidence indicates that the impact of the climate event varies by region, from large‑scale site abandonment to continued occupation and local adaptation. The dating evidence from Uğurlu on the Island of Gökçeada, Northeast Aegean, shows that there is a clear hiatus in 14C dates between ca. 8220 and 8000 cal BP, corresponding to the 8.2 ka BP climate event. This paper presents dating and archaeological evidence from Uğurlu and discusses the consequences of evidence in terms of the 8.2 ka BP climate event.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116353167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Au fost identificate şi cercetate zece complexe arheologice eneolitice : C113 şi C295 (resturi de construcţii incendiate) ; C295a („aglomerare” de materiale arheologice) ; C298 (grupare de pietre dispuse circular) ; C296– 297 şi C299– 302 (gropi şi/ sau alveolări). În cele două campanii a fost continuată şi finalizată cercetarea unor complexe pre‑ şi protoistorice care au secţionat câteva dintre amenajările eneolitice menţionate : C293 (groapă identificată în caroul C), C275 (şanţ de fundaţie observat pe toată lungimea S11 şi care intră în profilele de NE şi SV) – ambele atribuite epocii bronzului ; C204 (caroul D) şi C229 (caroul B) – gropi atribuite epocii fierului. Observaţiile stratigrafice au evidenţiat existenţa, în cadrul depunerii eneolitice, a două niveluri (N. 1 şi N. 2) cu o grosime medie de cca. 35– 45 cm. În N. 1 (nivelul eneolitic superior) au fost identificate complexele 113, 295, 295a şi 296, iar la baza N. 2 (nivelul eneolitic inferior) au fost observate complexele 297– 302. În depunerile eneolitice din S11 au fost descoperite materiale arheologice numeroase şi variate : fragmente ceramice (Cucuteni B2 laolaltă cu Cernavoda Ic) ; recipiente întregi sau întregibile ; plastică zoomorfă şi antropomorfă ; greutăţi din lut ; unelte din materii dure (piatră, os şi corn de cervide) ; podoabe şi/ sau pandantive ; piese diverse cu funcţionalităţi incerte. Nivelurile eneolitice mai conţineau, amestecate cu artefactele amintite, resturi osteologice de animale, depuneri răzleţe sau aglomerări de pietre şi o cantitate foarte mare de chirpici arşi. Au fost prelevate 1380 de resturi scheletice de animale, respectiv 889 din nivelul 1 și 491 din nivelul 2. Materialul arheozoologic este tipic resturilor menajere (Tab. 1), cu urme de tranșare, ardere, dinți de carnivore și de rozătoare. Cu excepția câtorva fragmente ce provin de la păsări, materialul este reprezentat de mamifere, preponderent domestice. Dintre speciile domestice, predomină, în ambele niveluri, ovicaprinele și vita domestică. Porcul și câinele contribuie cu foarte puține resturi. Animalele sălbatice sunt prezente cu puține fragmente ce provin de la cerb, căprior, mistreț, vulpe, iepure și un rozător de talie mică, probabil popândău. Pe lângă oasele de mamifere, au fost descoperite și 15 oase de păsări, majoritatea de talie mare, din categoria gâștei sau dropiei. Economia animalieră era axată pe ovicaprine și vite, porcul având un rol foarte mic. Sunt dovezi că și câinele era consumat. Vânătoarea este slab reprezentată.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123512422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The items belong to various categories, such as prick spurs – nine items, knives with peduncle for handles – 11 items, nails – nine items, a door lock, a hinge or lock, three different iron parts of door whose function is less clear, two iron buckles – one rectangular, and the other in the form of the letter “ D”, an arrowhead with tube for hafting, an ellipsoidal iron strike-a-light, a scissor, an iron horseshoe, a base of pot with signs in relief, as well as seven iron items whose function could not be determined due to their preservation. The vast majority of these items were uncovered in features dating in the 12th– 13th centuries. Spurs are undoubtedly the category of artefacts with the highest chronological and even numerical relevance in the settlement of Bratei, occupying the first place, with the exception of ceramics. Typologically, the prick spurs are part of the generic type with pyramidal thorn, along with two variants. Although the present items do not differ from those found in other contemporary sites, they are by far the most important ones for a better understanding of the specificity of Bratei settlement. In the same time, they also indicate that the Bratei settlement is actually belonging to a horizon of discoveries distributed in south-eastern Transylvania around the middle of the 12th century until the first part of the next century. In order to easily identify the features in which the objects were found, we used the same abbreviations like the ones in the original site documentation : B = dwelling or household annex ; Gr = pit ; S = trench – followed by year(s) when those feature(s) were excavated.","PeriodicalId":285703,"journal":{"name":"Materiale şi cercetãri arheologice (Serie nouã)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125687232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
