The doped nanocrystalline sample has been characterized by XRD and TEM techniques. A possible mechanism is proposed to explain the formation of Eu3+ doped ZnO nanomateirals. Additionally, the characteristic emissions of Eu3+ can be found upon excitation in the region of ZnO absorption, indicating that an efficient energy transfer from ZnO to Eu3+ occurs for the doped sample.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130030830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are totally four vibration modes existed in the measured frequency range. The first one is fundamental radial vibration mode, and then the others are three radial overtone modes with inharmonic frequency separation. With the increasing of temperature, the whole resonant spectrum shift to the higher frequency. The variation of fundamental series resonant frequency fs with temperature is larger than that variation of fundamental parallel resonant frequency fp with temperature. The effective electromechanical coupling factor keff decreased with the increasing of temperature. The effect of temperature to the overtones mode is more obvious than that of fundamental mode.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130110163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BaTiO<inf>3</inf>, CoFe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf> nanoparticles with particle size less than 50nm were fabricated by a surfactant-assisted ball milling process followed a centrifugal separation. Furthermore, ferroelectric/ferrite composites of (1−x) BaTiO<inf>3</inf>/xCoFe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf> (x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5) ceramics were then synthesized. The dependence of the ferroelectric and magnetic properties on the content of CoFe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf> has been investigated systematically. No interface reaction was observed in the multiferroic ceramics and the samples have been confirmed with excellent ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties, of which the maximal remnant polarization value of 1.9µC/cm<sup>2</sup> and saturation magnetization of 35emu/g were measured at 10% and 30% of CoFe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>4</inf>, respectively. The dielectric properties of the composites have also been measured as the variation of ferroelectric/magnetic fractions.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130454275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is found that the velocity shift of the high-order mode Lamb wave is more sensitive to the variations of elastic coefficients than that of the low-order mode. In a LY-12-CZ aluminum plate, the velocity shift of the A3 mode is about 9 times larger than that of the A0 mode. It has been widely used in the analysis of high frequency vibrations of quartz crystal plates, which are the core of resonators. The vibration frequency solutions obtained with Mindlin plate theory are proven much closer to the exact solutions. However, due to the truncation and approximation, the plate equations need to be corrected, as compared with the three-dimensional elasticity solutions. This has been done for the high-order Mindlin plate theory with and without electrodes for the AT-cut quartz crystal plates, and correction factors have been obtained though both natural and symmetric procedures. The correction factors could be used in the dispersion relationship and frequency spectrum in the analytical solutions, while the symmetric correction factors can be used in the finite element method implementation. Both correction schemes can provide improved and accurate results in the analysis of quartz crystal resonators. The electrodes are considered though its inertia effect as mass ratio known in resonator analysis.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122635589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The origin of the patch is fixed at an optimal location. Three parameters are chosen to define the size of piezoelectric patch, i.e., the circumferential width, the length from the origin to the minor end, and the length from the origin to the major end. Origin and sizes are derived according to the modal voltage. Next, solving the extremum of energy equation with respect to the three parameters yields the optimal size of the piezoelectric patch. Case studies are given to evaluate the energy outputs of the optimal piezoelectric energy harvester. The results prove that with origin located at the optimal location, the output energy of the piezoelectric patch firstly increases with the width as well as the length till the maximum, and then decreases with the spatial width and length parameters. The optimal width is always 75% of the half wave length.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122469600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The substrate of the layered structure is a functionally graded material (FGM) in which parameters vary along thickness and in the bounded domain. Both variable substitution and power series technique, which are shown to have good convergence and high precision, are employed for the asymptotic analytical derivations of the governing equation of Love wave. The influence of the gradient coefficient of FGM on the dispersion curves, and electro-mechanical coupling factor, and the displacement amplitude distributions of Love waves in this structure are investigated. The numerical computation is performed by Comsol Multiphysics 3.5a. The transmission spectra of a finite structure and the eigenmodes for the band edges of the lowest bandgap are also calculated. The results show that no bandgap exists for phononic crystal slabs with square holes; however, by introducing cross-like holes, the degeneracy of the bands are separated and wide bandgaps are generated. The band width to center frequency ratio is about eight times of that for the traditional phononic slab with circular holes by carefully designing the geometry of the cross-like holes. The eigenmodes corresponding to the band edges show that the bandgaps are governed by the flexural wave. The results are relevant to the optimization of the acoustic bandgaps.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126941787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new method, called CS, asserts that for sparse or compressible signals, far fewer samples or measurements than traditional methods used can contain all the information of signals. One can recover the original signals accurately from these samples or measurements by using reconstruction algorithms. Herein, we first construct the model of acoustic vector array, and present the corresponding CS algorithm. According to the angle sparse space, the over-complete dictionary can be constructed. The measurement matrix is optimized by the quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm (QPSO) to decrease the mutual coherence between measurement matrix and over-complete dictionary. An improved orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm (OMP) is used to obtain the estimation of sparse vector. Then from the angle spectrum, the DOA estimation of targets is obtained. By conducting several experiments, we obtained high resolution estimation of targets' DOA on the condition of low signal-to-noise ration (SNR) and small number of snapshots.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114203135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
