A total of 200 blood specimens (150 pregnant women and 50 non-pregnant women), aged between 18-49 years, were randomly collected from consenting women. Biochemical parameters including: Total Cholesterol (TCHL), Triglycerides (TG), High density lipoprotein (HDL) and Low density lipoprotein (LDL) were analyzed using standard spectrophotometric technique. A standard Height and Weight Measurement Unit (HWMU) was used to measure the height (m) and weight (Kg) of the participants and their BMI thereafter calculated using the formula: Weight/Square Height (Kg/m2). Data were entered into Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS-18.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences Version 18.0) Software Package. In comparison with the control, the serum levels of Triglycerides (TG), High density lipoprotein (HDL), as well as Very Low density lipoprotein (VLDL) changed significantly (P=0.00) in pregnant women with progression in pregnancy particularly in the third trimesters. While on the other hand, the serum levels of Total Cholesterol (TCHL) and the Low density lipoprotein (LDL) of the pregnant women were significantly (P=0.00) elevated in the second trimester compared to the control. TCHL (189±4.23 mg/dl), TG (166±5.12 mg/dl), HDL (78±2.59 mg/dl), VLDL (33.0±1.02 mg/dl), and BMI (24.2±0.4 Kg/m2) were significantly (P=0.00) elevated in the pregnant women than the control (142±5.34 mg/dl, 108±5.02 mg/dl, 39±3.20 mg/dl, 23.1±1.5 mg/dl, and 22.1±0.3 Kg/m2, respectively), except LDL (P=0.90). The evolution of the disease is benign and chronic, its etiology is not well defined, and the pathophysiology involves denervation of autonomic fibers. Approximately 60 cases have been reported worldwide. Therefore, we believe it is relevant to share this case with the medical community, given its characteristics. Clinical Case: A 39-year-old female started two years ago with profuse diaphoresis, erythema on the left hemibody of insidious onset, progressive, accompanied by contralateral hypohidrosis. On neurological examination with mydriatic right pupil, photo motor and consensual reflex absent; however, accommodation reflex was preserved. On motor examination with preserved strength and global myotatic reflexes abolished. A diagnostic protocol is performed to rule out primary differential diagnoses, which, when excluded, is concluded with Ross' syndrome diagnosis. In addition, a complete laboratory workup was done to rule out systemic problems, nerve conduction studies for radicular-neuropathies, immunological to rule out lupus and other autoimmune diseases, and imaging studies both CT and MRI. Conclusions: Ross' syndrome thoroughly presents in most patients with the characteristic triad; it is usually progressive and associated with autonomic symptoms. Its importance lies in evaluating and ruling out possible differential diagnoses and the timely treatment of the symptomatology that becomes disabling and has a social impact on the patient.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127683817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An antimicrobial agent is used for the treatment of UTI. The increase in antibiotic resistance among uropathogens is a global problem. This study attempted to underline the prevalence of UTI patients affected by uropathogenic strains. The study was conducted among 3060 patients of different ages and sex from over a period of one year April 2020 to April 2021 through conventional cultural, biochemical methods as well as disk diffusion methods to determine the uropathogens and their antibiotic susceptibility pattern. Among 3060 samples, 1148 (37.5%) samples were found culture positive, 248 (22%) cases positive for male & 900 (78%) cases positive for females. Most of the UTI was caused by Escherichia coli 891 (60 %). Moreover Enterobacter spp (7.5%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (11%), Proteus vulgaris (3.5%), Proteus mirabilis (2.5 %) Citrobacter freundii (1%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (3%), Staphylococcus spp (9.5%) Enterococcus faecalis (2%). 17 antibiotics were used against the isolated uropathogens. A sampling of food products was carried out from 4-5 places. The weight of the combined sample of meat products was 1 kilogram, as was the weight of the sample of vegetables, and the sample of dairy products was 600 grams. A sampling of food products was carried out in meatprocessing plants, markets, and shops. Qualitative and quantitative identification of radionuclides in the taken samples was performed in the Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia (identification code No. F-003-2016G). Fifteen locally produced staples (from peasant farms) that are most commonly consumed by the local population were studied in the Kakheti region. Comparing the results of the study carried out to identify radionuclides in food products with the permissible specific activity of radionuclides, it can be seen that the content of radionuclides in local food products in the Kakheti region is much lower than allowed by radiation safety standards. According to the results of the study, it can be assumed that the internal dose of radiation of the population conditioned by 137Cs and 90Sr would be relatively low. Though this fact does not give a reason for calm. To obtain a complete picture of internal doses of radiation, it is necessary to continue research with the aim of qualitative and quantitative identification of radionuclides in local and imported food products, as well as to study the actual nutrition of the population.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121185480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The history is the essential basis of the diagnosis. Objective: To improve the quality of the patient’s history according to a negotiated approach in order to promote therapeutic compliance. Method and Material: this was an action research type study. The study is prospective of the research/action type. The procedure consisted of making an investigation during the curative consultations in the doctors' offices; while the doctor interrogates a patient an investigator fills the investigation paper; to report the findings made with a view to developing a collegial action plan to improve the history. A second survey was conducted to assess the level of achievement of the action plan. Results: The results of this action research showed that almost 2% of physicians did the history summary in the first phase (first survey) while 10% did so after the upgrade. The diagnostic hypothesis was announced to patients by 33% of physicians initially, compared to 48% after the upgrade. And finally, more than half of the doctors did not explain to patients the different treatment options available for his case. Conclusion: Patient-centered history taking is not a common practice at the Yirimadio community health center. More action research is needed for physicians to fully embrace this approach.
