The objective of the study was to determine the motivations that will improve job satisfaction of health workers in our setting. Methodology: It was a quasi-experimental study. Following ethical approval, data collection was carried out with the aid of semi-structured, self-administered questionnaires using the Likert scale. Data collection was done before and after interventions in the form of improved supervision and leadership enhancement for supervisors, staff involvement in decision-making and presentation of awards to outstanding staff. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The frequencies, percentages and means of the parameters were obtained. The critical mean rating (MNR) of ‘3’ was selected as the neutral point. Results: Following the interventions, the following parameters showed increased mean rating: interest in career improvement (8.7%), provision of adequate leadership by supervisors (15.7%), effective communication from supervisors (9.4%), involvement in decision-making (2.7%) and opportunity for skill improvement (8.7%). About one-third (28.3%) of the respondents believed that training would improve their job satisfaction. One-third (33.3%) of the supervisors suggested their staff would be motivated by training, 24.2% suggested financial incentives while 15.1% suggested provision work materials. Conclusion: Leadership enhancement, involvement in decision-making, reward system, training, financial incentives and provision of work materials are the motivations needed for job satisfaction. Policies from the management to enhance productivity of should include these interventions.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127256526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This case study discusses the successful treatment of Nephrotic Syndrome (NS) using techniques of Yoga Prana Vidya (YPV) as complementary medicine. This paper further explores the patient traits of selfmanagement and control needed to sustain the improvements through changes in habits and life style. Materials and Methods: Case study method is used with collection of data of a 22-year-old female patient diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, monitoring and evaluation of their health conditions based on lab reports, changes in medicinal dosages and overall wellbeing before and after Yoga Prana Vidya system intervention. Results: Within two months of YPV intervention, the nephrotic syndrome was brought in control, as seen in the lab test reports that showed absence of Albumin in urine, elimination of bacteria and increase of haemoglobin level, and this enabled reduction in dosage of medication. Besides controlling nephrotic syndrome, the YPV intervention enabled positive changes in overall health. Conclusions: It follows from this case study that YPV can be used as an effective healing tool for complementary treatment of Nephrotic Syndrome and overall holistic health of the person. YPV produces best results, when integrated approaches such as physical and breathing exercises and meditation techniques are followed in practice with self-management. There is ample scope to conduct further research on the application of Yoga Prana Vidya as a cost-effective, safe and complementary/alternative medicine for treatment of nephrotic syndrome and various other medical conditions.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122565907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ovaries develop numerous small collections of fluid — called follicles — and may fail to regularly release eggs. PCOS is a complex disorder of uncertain etiology, having strong evidence that it is a genetic disease. This paper presents a case of PCOS treated successfully by Yoga Prana Vidya healing protocols. Method: This report uses case study method of investigating the case of a 22-year-old female diagnosed with having PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) during 2015. First symptoms were heavy menstrual flow accompanied by weakness. A Gynaecologist advised Ultrasound, full body test that revealed multiple cysts. The doctor prescribed steroids for treatment of this condition without any improvement, and instead deterioration was taking place. Her medical history before PCOS showed that she had sinusitis, low Iron count in blood and irregular periods. Results: The patient joined YPV from January 2017. She started taking healings from a senior YPV trainer from March, 2017, when she stopped taking medications. The senior YPV trainer helped the patient greatly through healings and constant nurturing. Slowly and gradually through healings, meditations, physical exercises, rhythmic breathing, forgiveness and learning lessons over the course of three years, the patient began to recover from march 2017 onwards. Conclusion: PCOS is one of the most important endocrine female disorders affecting in the reproductive age and may lead to serious complications, if not given due care and attention. Scientific studies are needed to determine the exact etiology of PCOS, and methods of proper management. Further research using YPV with appropriate number of samples of cases similar to this case is recommended to throw more light on treatment and normalization of this condition to give renewed life to patients in the society at large.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"336 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122992415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Few studies so far have explored the autistic motor difficulties. Our work aims to investigate the level motor management of adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, compared to typically developing children. The motor management was realized, in different imitative conditions. We assume that pragmatic sensorimotor management would be functional both in adolescent with autistic spectrum disorder and typical children. However, if high-level cognitive semantic management is gradually acquired in the typical children, it would be deficient in the adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Our results confirm and justify the selective impairment of symbolic semantic functions of the motor achievements of atypical with autism spectrum disorder.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129066694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Paediatric discharge against medical advice (P-DAMA) poses a particular challenge because under-age children lack autonomous power in their health decision-making, which may complicate their health problems. This study aimed at determining the prevalence of under-five P-DAMA and also to document its associated factors in Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Okada, Nigeria, with a view to curbing it. Methodology: This retrospective study reviewed all the admissions- and discharge- registers, and case-notes of all the under-five admissions between 2017-2019 in the private-owned Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Ok ada, Nigeria. Information extracted included their socio-demographics, clinical diagnoses, hospitalization duration and rationale for DAMA. Retrieved data were analyzed using the SPSS, Version 23.0. Results: There were 99 cases of under-five P-DAMA with complete information out of a total admissions of 3816 giving an overall prevalence of 2.6%.The incidence of P-DAMA (4.0%) was highest among preschoolersaged 31-60 months who constituted 57.6% of them; and girls predominated boys at a ratio of 7:4.Majority (53.5%) were from lower socio-economic class residing mainly in rural villages (53.5%). Infectious diseases, including malaria (26.8%), diarrhea (20.1%), neonatal sepsis(13.4%) and bronchopneumonia(13.4%) were common diagnoses of these children. The mean duration of children hospitalization before DAMA was 5.2 days. Parental/guardian fear of accumulation of hospital bills (25.3%) and perceived improvement in child’s clinical condition(s)(21.2%) were the most frequent reasons adduced for DAMA. However, in 29.3% of cases, the reasons for DAMA were neither reported nor documented in the childrens’ medical records. Conclusion: Parental poverty and ignorance are major factors fuelling P-DAMA in the studied hospital. Government should adopt universal health insurance coverage policies to protect the under-five child-patients from the consequences of such irregular discharges.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128137889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two previous versions of the national protocol for the management of acute malnutrition provide different guidelines. Our study aims to assess the extent of the association of malaria with acute malnutrition and the most appropriate version of the protocol. It is a retrospective study based on the records of children 6-59 months hospitalized at the URENI of the CSRéf of Kayes in 2019. The results show that on the basis of positive RDT, 0.9% of those admitted had malaria on acute malnutrition. The acute malnutrition patient is defined as a child from 24 to 59 months, referred to the URENI, treated with injectable Artesun, generally lasting 5 days in the program with a successful treatment rate of 75%. They have little diarrhea compared to other non-malarial patients. The 2017 version of the national protocol for the management of acute malnutrition is the most appropriate. Further studies are needed to support our findings.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131452961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
