Design: This is a prospective interventional case series study. Patients with unilateral ptosis or bilateral ptosis were operated upon between January 2020 and January 2021. All patients were evaluated and operated by one surgeon (Dr.Juma Omrani) and followed up for an average period of 6 months. Patients and methods: A22 eyes with ptotic eyelid of 20 patients were included in this study between January 2020 and January 2021. The patients (15 females and 5 males of age between 4 and 18 years old) were presented to the of Ophthalmology department Alsalam medical center, Libyan Swiss medical center and Tripoli eye hospital. Following ophthalmological and general evaluation 4 patients were operated upon under local anesthesia (age between 16 and 18), 16 patients were operated upon under general anesthesia (age between 4 and 16). Levator tucking was done through the skin side using nonabsorbable sutures. preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative photos were taken. Patients were followed up for an average period of 6 months. The results were analyzed for the efficacy of the procedure in correcting the ptotic eyelid. Results: 22 eyelids of different degrees of ptosis underwent levator tucking; corrected in 19 cases (86%), under corrected in 2 cases (9%) and over corrected in 1 case (5%). Conclusion: In this procedure the levator muscle was not severed and the horns where not cut which means there was no tissue destruction and the anatomy of the eyelids was not disturbed that much. Consequently, more anatomical and physiological repair was achieved. Therefore, this technique is safe, fast, simple and effective for management of congenital ptosis.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124855701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Selfefficacy beliefs may be very helpful for not only perception and avoidance of risk for MTCT of HIV but also for coping with the disease and empowering health and socio-economic conditions. However, previous analyses of self-efficacy were found to be only partially useful in the context of PMTCT of HIV. The purpose of this paper is to explore the current knowledge about the selfefficacy concept and clarify its theoretical application in the context of PMTCT of HIV research. The Norris method of concept clarification was used as the guiding framework. Literature Review. Literature review was conducted in MEDLINE, PUBMED, CINHAL, and Google Scholar. Six antecedents of self-efficacy identified were perceived risk, challenges, tasks, goals, adversity, and difficulty. High self-efficacy was found to influence the development of cognitive, personal, behavioral, and environmental factors which influence the adherence of PMTCT strategies and prevention of MTCT of HIV. The clarification of the self-efficacy concept will assist nurse researchers, practitioners, and educators in developing interventions and education strategies aimed at promoting PMTCT of HIV.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122260345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, robot-assisted inguinal hernia repair generates controversies compared to laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. We evaluated the safety and efficiency of robot-assisted inguinal hernia repair compared to the laparoscopic. Methods: The Pub Med, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases was carried out to obtain studies that comparatively evaluated the efficacy, safety, and the economy between robot-assisted and laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Rev man software was used to analyze the data according to random effects models. Results: Six studies, of 3246 patients were included, 1025 patients underwent robot-assisted and 2221patients underwent laparoscopic surgery. The review showed that robotic-assisted inguinal hernia may reduce the pain compared with laparoscopic, while hospitals cost was significantly higher in robotic surgery than laparoscopic. There was no significant difference between robotic and laparoscopic surgery in decreasing surgical site infection (OR=4.08, 95%CI: 0.39-43.02, P=0.24), hospital length (MD=0.03, 95%CI: 0.04-0.10, P=0.34), the incidence of hematoma (OR=1.38, 95%CI: 0.57-3.37, P=0.48), seroma (OR=1.15, 95%CI: 0.61-2.15, P=0.67), urinary retention (OR=1.42, 95%CI: 0.67-2.97, P=0.36), and complication (OR=1.158, 95%CI:0.87- 2.87, P=0.14). Conclusions: This study showed robotic-assisted inguinal hernia might reduce pain compared with the laparoscopic group but incurred higher costs. There was no significant difference between robotic and laparoscopic surgery in other efficacy and safety outcomes, which im plying that robotic surgery could be an alternative procedure to laparoscopic instead of replacement in inguinal hernia repair. More robust and high-value randomized trials are required to determine the safety and efficacy of robot-assisted inguinal hernia repair.","PeriodicalId":285067,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Science and Health Research","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126256935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
