Energy consumption of wireless sensor is a bottleneck in various applications that require long life time. This paper presents a detailed power consumption analysis of ZigBee based wireless pulsating sensors, design of an energy harvesting system to cater its power requirements and optimizing the sleep interval to enhance its life time. A low voltage buck-boost converter is used to harvest power from solar panel and power the wireless node. A rechargeable battery is used as a backup power source. The surplus power from the solar panel is used to charge the battery. Super capacitors are provided to meet the peak current requirements of wireless nodes. The circuit was designed, fabricated and tested with an RTD based temperature sensor. In order to meet the consumer load demand, expansion in the power system network is essential. To provide continuous and reliable power supply, a smart power system needs to identify any abnormal conditions on overhead transmission lines such as line faults in minimum time. The fault detection, fault classification and its location on the overhead transmission system is still a major area of research for the secure and reliable operation of the power system. In this paper, minimal synchronised symmetrical components based fault locator for overhead transmission lines is proposed. Prior to fault location, classification of the fault is also given importance by utilising one end current data. The overhead transmission line network is modelled in PSCAD software environment. Various simulations have been performed by taking 100km and 300km long line cases. The simulated data is processed through the proposed fault classification and location algorithms developed in MATLAB environment. The effect on ANS was explored non-invasively using heart rate variability (HRV) parameters. The results suggested that the physiology of ANS is not significantly affected by the sound stimulus. Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal divulges information about the cardiac electrophysiology. The time-domain and joint time-frequency domain processed ECG signals were classified using artificial neural networks (ANN). Variations in blood flow in the blood vessels cause temperature difference, which produces the vascular networks. This paper deals with binary classification of various infrared facial expressions using vascular network. The classification has been performed using Support Vector Machine classifier on five types of expression where facial features are extracted with the help of Uniform LBP and PCA. Experiments have been conducted on two infrared face datasets: one is our own captured dataset and another is USTC_NVIE database. Firstly, the PI controller is eliminated from the outer dc-link voltage control loop with the application of dynamic dc-link reference design technique and line voltage sensors by using virtual flux technique. Further, a simple way to obtain the dc-link voltage based on the switching states of the rectifier is implemented to remove the outer loop voltage sensor also and hence the voltage sensorless DPC approach has achieved. Finally, the Experimental results of both the approaches, one with dc-link voltage sensor but without PI controller and another with the absence of both PI controller and dc-link voltage sensor is presented. Associated 3D measurements can facilitate surgical planning and postoperative assessment. Further, lifelike 3D visualization of human face is helpful as a communication/training tool for medical professionals/trainees. In this backdrop, we present a 3D surface imaging and measurement platform that is both flexible and accurate. Specifically, our systems consists of a stereo camera and two monocular cameras, which can be individually positioned and focused to obtain crisp images. From those images, true-to-scale reconstruction was achieved with accuracy levels between 97.46% and 99.83% in various oculofacial measurements. Significantly, such levels of accuracy are comparable to those achieved by inflexible legacy systems. For integrating different sources, a suitable power electronic interface and a power management strategy are mandatory requirements. In this paper, implementation of closed loop controller for a dual input single output DC-DC converter to integrate two different VI characteristic sources for DC microgrid application is presented. The converter can perform all the three basic modes of operation of DC-DC converter (buck, buck-boost, and boost). The open loop and closed loop simulation of the proposed converter has been carried out in MATLAB Simulink platform and experimental validation is done with DSPIC30F3011 microcontroller for both open loop and closed loop operation. Effectiveness of control strategy is verified for both load regulation and line regulation. This helps improving the specimen body so as to optimize the performance in the actual working model. The tests conducted are at high as well as low velocity to simulate the natural working environment when the body is in motion in the fluid. This involves maintaining the test section at the required pressure so that the air reaches the necessary speeds to match desired testing conditions. A pressure regulating valve incorporated in a wind tunnel is used to control the pressure variations in a settling chamber and thereby in the test section. A LabVIEW program is developed to simulate the working of a pressure regulating valve. Likelihood values and similarity index are calculated for each observation obtained from radar. Expectation maximization technique is applied to obtain possibility association matrix. Simulation results demonstrate that, proposed method performs better, when compared to conventional joint probability association (JPDA) and fuzzy clustering (FCM) approaches in terms of position and velocity root mean square error (RMSE). Fluency is known to influence the outcome of employment interviews. The interface-based interview setting is useful in assessing and giving feedback to the participants without any human intervention. To this end, we have collected a set of 106 interview videos from graduate students. Three external observers rate the interview videos for the variable of interest i.e., speaking fluency on a five point scale. We define several tasks based on grouping the fluency rating for easy prediction. We build a predictive model by first extracting linguistic and acoustic features automatically and then using machine learning algorithms like Linear Regression, Multi class Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Logistic Regression.
