The relevance of G. Ryle’s thought in the development of the philosophical notion of know-how is well known. The first part of this article shows that, in despite of some general similarities, the Heideggerian notion of understanding and Ryle’s notion of know-how differ in fundamental aspects. The second part discusses some of the relevant appraisals of Brandom’s interpretation of the Heideggerian Verstehen. The third part considers and discusses Okrent’s pragmatist interpretation of Heidegger’s notion. Finally, the article shows that this reading has a limited scope as the modal distinction between authentic and unauthentic understanding becomes irrelevant.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. It argues that the collecting of Asian art in Chile cannot be conceptualized like a museum collection. On the one hand, the paper reveals the characteristics and limitations of museality, that is and perspective of the museum and the rules that shape it, for the study of the Lynch collection. On the other hand, it offers a new approach based on principles that emerge from Lynch’s collecting phenomenon: the liberal attitude and its installation conditions.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. This article studies the strategies described in the autobiographical narratives of Mary Prince (British West Indies) and Juan Francisco Manzano (Cuba). Because the narratives encompass their life stories, they allow us to observe the process by which the authors contemplate different strategies to free themselves, as well as how they adjust their plans when faced with obstacles and setbacks. At the same time, the article examines the factors that shape Prince and Manzano’s decision making processes and how they are related to the historical, geographic, legal, and demographic contexts of each author.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. However, this article shows that the laws of a metaphysical study emerge from a critique of the perception of the senses and its lability. Thus, it discusses the laws and meaning of a metaphysics from Aristotle’s thought, by using a characterization of his thinking as “metaphysics of light”. This discussion reveals the need to perceive the being according to its aspect and the pertinence of an analogy between to see, be seen, light and knowledge, the being and its Being. Thus, in light of the metaphysical idea of “knowing of being in its Being”, the article proposes understanding it in the sense of “seeing what is seen in the light” while taking care to not identify the Being of real being with its sensible appearance.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. Those authoritarian, conservative governments that demonised the working class are confronted by poetry, transforming words and bodies into a poem of death (perhaps) and into the possibility (perhaps) that allows to think about the present and revaluate our past. From Eyrean people towards Chilean people, the book poeticises an ethic of reversibility of closeness and distance, which commits the being-with that the poem thinks. Delay, captivity, deprivation and revolt against dictatorial and authoritarian violence. Resistance through Sands’ hunger strike that joins the voices of protest of Chile in the eighties.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. Recognized by those who knew her well as a great witch, Camacho fluctuated between a constantly transgressive everyday existence and imaginaries based on prejudice and stigma. She was tried before the Inquisition from 1662 to 1664 in Lima, and her case file exemplifies situations, in which the protagonists are not the people on trial, but the spell they cast. Estrangement, the search for love, social or economic wellbeing were just some of the conflicts that Camacho resolved with her spells.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago. In this project, the production of knowledge attends to the experiences of the author and the black communities in which she grew up, which in turn are re-signified in the light of the theories developed by hooks and other exponents of black feminism. For hooks, attending to experience is also a powerful pedagogical strategy for the development of critical and transformative thinking. This article analyzes hooks’ essays, especially the texts that highlight the links between experience and theorizing. The trajectory and intellectual production of hooks is read in the context of radical black feminism that takes shape in the 1960s and 1970s.","PeriodicalId":282621,"journal":{"name":"Revista de humanidades (Santiago.
