New concepts, like Mobile Learning (mLearning), have already been introduced in the educational process. In this paper, we focus on mLearning through smartphones. The main aim is to approach learning through smartphones with respect to the existing educational and legal frameworks. We focus on four key areas: Collaboration, Learning Method, Place and Technology. Our motivation is to find out if there is a way to integrate effectively the use of smartphones into the learning process and to enhance this process without causing problems to the educational procedure. Therefore, through questionnaires we solicited the opinions of students and teachers of the Greek educational system, and we examined the advantages and disadvantages of mLearning, which led us to the introduction of an initial mobile application that combines the above key areas characteristics.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115013756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Go-Lab platform and its services for lab owners, such as the smart device and smart gateway are examples of frameworks that simplify the plug and share of remote laboratories. However, the lab owner is still responsible for provisioning the IT resources necessary to deliver the remote labs. This work proposes a framework that can simplify even more the deployment of labs, contributing for a more ubiquitous delivery of these systems, since it minimises the requirements posed to lab owners to connect an equipment to the Internet. This approach if fully compatible with the Smart Device specification of Go-Lab, since it proposes a new layer of abstraction for lab owners. Additionally, as a result of these minimised requirements, Online Laboratory installations can run on single-board computers, such as a Raspberry Pi, what ultimately contribute to a more ubiquitous deployment of remote experimentation. This paper will describe how a software framework called Experiment Dispatcher developed to simplify the development and deployment of Online Laboratories facilitates the ubiquitous deployment of these systems.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114661010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, there are many factors that can influence it. Therefore, it is important to consider the way in which certain factors provide information about the performance and efficiency of university professors. Our proposal consists of using data envelopment analysis with the aim of showing how one can adequately estimate the parameters of assessment and grading and see how this compares with scientific publications. We worked with data of 60 professors from two universities. The results show that it is possible to identify barriers to efficiency, and that the parameters can be considered individually or collectively to determine a just value for teacher assessment.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"94 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128235919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a quantitative appraisal of the mechanisms behind their effectiveness is still in progress. This paper investigates the relation between psychological variables and behavior while playing on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. A mobile implementation of the Connect 4 game (“Addiction 4”) was designed to engage users while collecting data in the background. The app was then given to a group of students, who were also separately administered a battery of psychological tests. By merging the data from tests and gameplay, some noteworthy relations were discovered between indicators of psychological characteristics and metrics derived from the game.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116871671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, these has been performed as hands-on laboratories, but the concept of remote laboratories has introduced new challenges. While remote laboratories offer many advantages over hands-on laboratories, an important part, which lies in the name - “hands-on” -, is lost in this transition. Requiring the students to participate in hands-on laboratory work in addition to the remote laboratories might be hindered by a number of factors, primarily when used as part of e.g. a MOOC. This paper presents a solution where the students buy their own low-cost laboratory equipment pack, for use at home or work, which enables them to perform the hands-on part even in a MOOC module. The equipment pack is designed to have a cost comparable to a typical textbook, making the equipment pack affordable for most students.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126985236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These rely on agriculture, yet their livelihoods are affected by immense changes in seasons. Smallholder farmers' access to mobile phones can act as bridges in supporting learning for secure livelihoods. Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), we have conducted multiple case studies of the Community Knowledge Worker project in Uganda. The intention was to analyse mobile learning adoption and use practices among farmers. Based on our findings, organisational scaffolding, social influence, peer support, immediate learning impacts, and increased output were key factors that aided learning and adoption of mobile technologies. Although adoption and use practices were facilitated by organisational scaffolding, the future of mLeaming use in resource limited environments is promising.","PeriodicalId":282396,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Interactive Mobile Communication, Technologies and Learning (IMCL)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124991802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
