However, the under-represented mathematics in STEM assessment has become an issue. Moreover, the existing frameworks of STEM problem-solving are suitable for assessing activity during teaching and learning. This study covers the limitations by developing a new mathematical problem-solving-based integrated STEM framework and applying it into practice. The new framework combines and integrates frameworks in every STEM discipline. It applies in developing scenario based-test with prompting questions to show the practical use of the framework. The test was administered to 31 of 7th graders students (M=12.29, SD=.46) to prove the consistency of the new framework and the effective role of scenario and prompting questions. The results revealed four types of flows in the problem-solving process posed by students with different in evaluating, representing, and designing phases. The flow of problem-solving and the indicators in a new model were consistent but shown as a dependent process. The scenario and prompting questions worked effectively regardless of a multidimensional prompting question. Several recommendations for developing a test based on the new framework are discussed. Quantitative analysis with large sample size is required for future study.","PeriodicalId":280543,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122340549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the researcher took two factors: gender and ethnicity, as differentiators. This study involved 36 mathematically gifted students from three different schools who were randomly se-lected from 48 gifted students who were identified. The two data collection instruments used were mathematical problems (Number Theory, Algebra, and Geometry) and questionnaires, which were organized by referring to Lester's problem-solving stages. The results of the two-way ANO-VA test revealed that the average math problem skill score was 50% of the maximum score (rela-tively low). Another important finding, statistically, there is no difference in math problem skill scores based on either ethnicity or gender. This study implicitly shows that mathematically gifted students in problem-solving processes were not correlated with ethnicity or gender.","PeriodicalId":280543,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114832440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This question is essential to answer because it is motivated by the mathematical performance of students in Tidore is low nationally and is reinforced by the results of the 2015 and 2018 PISA and OECD surveys. Gender is used as a distinguishing factor because this factor is still culturally rooted in this area and affects the role of society in life socially. Tidore comprises three significant communities, namely coastal, urban, and mountainous communities, each of which has a unique pattern of social life. Therefore, researchers also use \"background\" as a distinguishing factor. Data collection was carried out in three schools representing the three communities using a questionnaire, math problems (arithmetic, geometry, algebra), and semi-structured interviews on two subjects (male and female) in each location. The results of the analysis show, based on gender and background the ability of students to think critically mathematically are categorized as sufficient (close to less) with a mathematical critical thinking (MCT) achievement ratio of  0.27. Male subjects had an achievement ratio of 0.3 (sufficient) higher than female subjects of  0.24 (insufficient). Based on the background subjects from urban areas had the highest MCT achievement ratio of 0.49 (sufficient) while the subject achievement ratio of the coast and mountains were 0.17 (insufficient) and 0.15 (insufficient), respectively.","PeriodicalId":280543,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130543111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the general working principles do not change, they can be made geometrically in the form of cylinders, spheres, cones and even discs. One of these geometries is known as axial flux machine topology which has a disc structure. Axial flux machines are remarkable in terms of their high efficiency, high power density and advantage in terms of compact structures. In this study, extended literature search of axial flux induction motor is given. In addition to the literature, axial induction motor design interface has been created by using MATLAB GUI software. This interface can communicate with ANSYS Maxwell. Thus, the dimensioning values of the machine calculated via the interface can be drawn automatically in Ansys Maxwell and it can perform numerical analysis. The obtained torque, current and efficiency data were evaluated.","PeriodicalId":280543,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117172066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These objectives are benchmarks by which the learning process is assessed. The teacher plays a dual role of assisting learners to develop requisite skills for the world of work, and ability to obtain good grades in high stakes examinations. High stakes examinations are of critical importance to the learner, because they determine the future of the learner through grades which are awarded. The balance between satisfying the requirements of syllabus assessment objectives, and high stakes examinations depends on how the teacher develops and implements instructional objectives. In an attempt to gain insight, this study explored O-Level mathematics and combined science teachers’ alignment of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) oriented objectives with assessment in a high stakes examinations environment. Data were collected through interviews, observations and document analysis involving 10 mathematics and combined science teachers. Results suggest that, while teachers were aware of Mathematics and Combined Science syllabus requirements of aligning STEM oriented objectives with assessment, they devoted considerable time to preparation of students for high stakes examinations. However, the quality of preparation was questionable, measured against Bloom’s Taxonomy of educational objectives. Teachers tended to use drilling methods, the aim being production of high grades in high stake examinations, with little focus on understanding and application of knowledge in real life situations. It is recommended that teachers should include higher order STEM oriented instructional objectives aligned with assessment in order to prepare learners for the real world of work.","PeriodicalId":280543,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Trends in Mathematics Education Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125396403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
