Knowledge of OSA is limited among student doctors and nurses. Hence, we assess the level of knowledge regarding OSA among nursing students and evaluate effectiveness of a structured teaching program on the same. \u0000Methods: This was a quasi-experimental research study, that included 90 nursing students, selected by purposive sampling. They were asked to fill out questionnaire consisting of questions regarding OSA, followed by a structured training program about OSA. They were assessed for level of knowledge regarding OSA post-test. \u0000Results: Mean knowledge score pre-test was 5.39±3.37, and post intervention was 15.9±2.45 (P =0.0001). Majority of the students (82.2%, n=74) had no prior knowledge about OSA, and none had adequate knowledge pre-test. Post-test majority had adequate knowledge (71.11%, n=64). Having prior knowledge about OSA pre-test was significantly associated with increased level of pre-test knowledge (P =0.0001). \u0000Conclusion: The knowledge of OSA among nursing students was inadequate, but the structured training program substantially increased their level of knowledge.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128237068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The life satisfaction scale developed by Ed Diener and his colleagues is one of the most preferred life satisfaction scales in research. In this study, it was aimed to obtain an approximate estimate of the generalized reliability of the measurement tool through meta-analytic reliability generalization and to determine which sample characteristics of the studies may affect the variability of reliability coefficients. For 24 studies, the generalized reliability coefficient was .84 [.81-.87]. No visual or statistical evidence of publication bias was encountered in the meta-analysis. As a result of the moderator analysis, it was concluded that the year of publication, sample type and the percentage of women in the sample can be shown as sources related to the change in the reliability value. It is thought that it would be useful to report reliability coefficients in accordance with the research conditions and assumptions in future studies.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128420179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 64-item item pool was created by the researchers, and the content validity index was calculated on the items where opinions from 10 different experts were submitted. The application form, which reduced to 51 items after experts’ feedbacks, was applied to a total of 384 people and the observations obtained were analyzed by Explanatory Factor Analysis. EFA relieved that the scale has explained 43% of variance and has 3 subscales. The factors are named as \"Freedom\", \"Rules\" and \"Privacy\". The internal consistency coefficient was found .85. Internal consistency coefficients were obtained as .87 for the Freedom subscale, .78 for the Rules subscale, and .64 for the Privacy subscale. The scale was tested with Confirmatory Factor Analysis to confirm the structure it relieved. It has been found that CFA fit indices are within acceptable limits and the scale has convergent and divergent validity.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116837640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample group consists of 410 university students, aged between 18 and 31 years. The Discrepancies Between Individual-Set and Parent-Set Career Goals Scale (DBIPCGS), Career Stress Scale (CSS,) and Life Satisfaction Scale (LCS) were used as data collection tools in the study. The structure of DBIPCGS was tested by confirmatory factor analysis. The model goodness of fit values obtained in confirmatory factor analysis showed that the structure of the scale was confirmed. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach Alpha) of the scale was calculated as .78 for the ability dimension, .90 for the choice dimension, .92 for the enthusiasm dimension, and .93 for the total score of the scale. As a result of the correlation analysis conducted for the criterion validity, a positive relationship was found between DBIPCGS and the CSS, and a negative relationship with the LCS. As a result, DBIPCGS is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used in Turkish culture.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117068844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework of the research is the ecological theory put forward by Bronfenbrenner. The research was designed and conducted in a qualitative design and phenomenological design was used to provide a comprehensive understanding of the divorce adjustment experience. Within the scope of the research, the custodial parents, the classroom teachers and the school counselors of the ten children in the focus were interviewed. The findings obtained from the interviews can be classified into five themes: a)family microsystem, b) school microsystem, c) mesosystem d) exosystem and macrosystem. The first theme is divided into four categories: family structure, custodial parent-child relationships, noncustodial parent-child relationships and relationships with root family. The second theme is divided into three categories: the teacher-student relationship, peer relationships, and the school counselor-student relationship. The third theme is divided into two categories: teacher-parent colloboration and school counselor-parent colloboration. The fourth theme is divided into three categories: dynamics of the education, law, and economic systems. The fifth theme is divided into two categories: the societal economic structure and the sociocultural structure. As a result, supporting children's adjustment to divorce necessitates a holistic approach and organized interventions at various levels.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123192919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample consisted of adolescents aged between 9 and 14 and their mothers (N = 270). Adolescents filled out Harter’s Self-Perception Profile for Children (SPPC; 2012) to assess their competence in different domains (e.g., social adjustment, school success). The instructions for SPCC were modified for mothers to evaluate their children’s perception of competence. The reports of mothers and their children were compared, and the results indicated low-to-moderate agreement between mothers-child dyads about children’s sense of competence. Second, children were found to have a higher global sense of self-worth and perceive themselves as more competent in social, behavioral, and athletic areas when compared to their mothers’ perceptions. Finally, it was determined that the agreement between the mother-child dyad differs by the mothers’ education level and the child’s gender. Accordingly, low-educated mothers perceived their children as less behaviorally competent than the children themselves did. Regarding social competence, the perception of low-educated mothers differed with their daughters but not with their sons. The results were discussed in view of the context of Turkish mothers’ socialization and gender role expectations.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122263238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instruments tapping into four types of perceived parenting style (psychological control, behavioural control, autonomous support, and responsiveness), positive and negative affect, relational self and flourishing were administered to a sample of 579 university students from France (n = 325) and Turkey (n = 324). Latent profile analysis (LPA) and ANOVA tests were performed. The results showed that French university students presented lower levels of positive affect, negative affect and psychological flourishing compared to Turkish university students. Differences were found between these two groups in terms of psychological and behavioural control, and their respective consequences on self-construal and psychological flourishing. Turkish parents present higher levels of psychological and behavioural control in their relationships with their children compared to French counterparts.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"58 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133673298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, how generations (X, Y, Z) differentiate according to personality traits, conflict resolution approaches, and coping skills was explored. The sample of the study consisted of 433 participants (257 female and 176 male) which are composed of Generation X (n = 141), Generation Y (n = 165), Generation Z (n = 127). The data was obtained by the Demographic Information Form, The Big Five Inventory (BFI), Conflict Communication Scale (CCS) and Coping Skills Scale (The Brief- COPE). Multiple variance analysis (MANOVA) was used to see whether there is a significant difference between BFI, CCS, and the Brief-COPE in terms of Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z. The study results demonstrated that there was a statistically significant difference in personality traits according to Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z. Moreover, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z differentiated according to confrontation, emotional expression, and self-disclosure subscale of CCS. However, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z did not differentiate in terms of conflict approach/avoidance and public/private behavior level. Furthermore, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z differentiated according to substance use, suppression of competing activities, denial, restraint, positive reinterpretation, and planning subscale of the Brief-COPE. In addition, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z did not differentiate in terms of instrumental social support, acceptance, humor, venting of emotions, religion, behavioral disengagement, mental disengagement, emotional social support levels.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122151656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Students at universities are one of these vulnerable populations. The uncertainty brought on by COVID-19 had a negative psychological impact on them, but this effect became more complex in the process of restarting education after a long break. The purpose of this study is to investigate the psychological situation of Turkish university students during the period when face-to-face education began to reappear as a result of the COVID-19 precautions being reduced. For this aim, the psychological situation of 224 Turkish students aged 17–25 was assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State and Trait Anxiety Scale (STAT), Connor Davidson-Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), and Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI). In addition, the students were asked about their life satisfaction, chronic illness, duration of physical activity, screen time, and needs of psychological support. The results revealed that during this period, students reported low levels of exercise and physical activity time, increased time spent in front of a screen, low life satisfaction, higher rates of receiving and needing psychological support, and higher levels of negative affect, depression, anxiety, and brief symptoms. Furthermore, the results showed that positive affect and resilience are protective factors for psychological health. The findings of the study highlighted the critical role of psychological support services at universities in promoting and preserving students' mental health.","PeriodicalId":280499,"journal":{"name":"Türk Psikolojik Danışma ve Rehberlik Dergisi","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122800764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
