A considering to this characteristic, this algorithm adopts diverse error thresholds as well as searching steps when fractal searching is made. Great searching steps along with small error thresholds apply to high frequency sub-bands, while the contrary is suitable for low ones. The experiment results show that compression rate is largely increased by this algorithm and the speed of encoding without reducing SNR and quality of decoded images, which is superior to the traditional wavelet coding algorithms.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"2007 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125621139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is deduced theoretically that the nonlinear phase shift arisen from SPM effect has an impact on the gain and bandwidth enhancement factor of the laser. The second order nonlinear effect of the fiber enriches the varieties of the amplitude and the phase of the laser while the nonlinear phase shift produces a lot of new frequencies, which can spread the bandwidth. Numerical results reveal that, with SPM effect, the new bandwidth be can enhanced 4 times more than the bandwidth without the optical fiber path, and the relaxation oscillation frequency of the chaotic laser is increased to being 2 times more than that of the laser without the optical fiber path. It is found numerically that the enhancement of the chaotic bandwidth depends evidently on the optical fiber length, the power into the optical fiber, the coupling-feedback ratio and the second order nonlinear coefficient affect.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122807875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through experiments it is shown that different calculating precisions and u value can be the factor that effects the cycle period most, changing u value can change the cycle and the larger precision can get the bigger cycle basically. For one thing, fixing u value and precision to test the effect of the initial value and find some good precisions; for another, further research shows there are some small cycles in good precisions. Therefore, it is unsafe to use initial value directly as the cipher code, for which the paper supposes an improvement program. This paper tests the cycle under certain conditions, and firstly deduces the cycle calculation formula, proposes the main conditions of cycles effected by the digital chaoic sequences and the cycle calculation method, then gives the scatter gram of precision-u-cycle. The methods given above have actual significances for estimating chaotic sequence cycle of finite precision in assured chaotic application field.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131851201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional encryption methods such as DES, RSA etc... are widely used today and it seems to be computationally secure. Chaotic encryption is the new direction of cryptography and only few papers discuss on it, and it makes use of chaotic system properties such as sensitive to initial condition and lost of information. An image encryption scheme is proposed, in which shifting the positions and changing the grey values of image pixels are combined simultaneously to ensure a high level of security. Arnold cat map is used to permute the positions of the image pixels in the spatial domain. Then another chaotic logistic map is used to substitute the relationship between the ciphered image and the original image. An external 128 bit secret key is employed and is further modified after encrypting each pixel of the original image to make the encryption more robust against attacks. Sensitivity analysis, key space analysis and statistical analysis of several experimental results indicate the presented scheme has high security and superior quality, and thereby it is feasible.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"666 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132276552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm uses the initial sensitivity of the cat map to expand the scope of the search, and uses the ergodicity of the cat map to search the chaotic variables. Thus, reduces the data redundancy, maintains the diversity of population, and solves the problem of local optimum effectively. The performance of CGA is firstly verified by four test functions, and then applied to the seismic wavelet estimation. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation demonstrate that CGA has better convergence speed and convergence performance.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133969051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results show that both the contour fractal dimension and the contour & nervure fractal dimension can distinguish leaves between different types effectively despite a little deficiencies, by adding the fractal dimension of nervure details into the whole classification and identification system, which can distinguish leaves more effectively than that of contour and contour & nervure, the accuracy has been greatly improved. Finally, we propose the necessity and feasibility of establishment of fractal plant taxonomy based on our experimental results.","PeriodicalId":279256,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115107568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
