This study aimed to explore those issues in the Buddhist sample. The research sample included 163 young monk and nun students. A questionnaire was used for measuring mindfulness and experiences of positive and negative emotions. The exploratory factor analysis identified three components of mindfulness, namely awareness, peace of mind, and non-distraction. Mindfulness and its components were found to enhance positive emotions while reduce negative ones in monk and nun students. The mediation analysis indicated that mindfulness has both direct and indirect positive effects on positive emotions through negative emotions, with the direct effect being stronger. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of the structure of mindfulness in Buddhists, and the mechanism by which it affects positive emotions.","PeriodicalId":278080,"journal":{"name":"The American Journal of Social Science and Education Innovations","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116145513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transition from secondary school to the University is one of the most stressful events in adolescents’ life and can have a negative impact on their social adjustment. The researcher made used of be mixed method with a concurrent nested research design. The instruments used for data collection was questionnaire, interview guide and open group discussion. The sample was made up of 759 students and 13 Guidance counsellors proportionately selected five state Universities (Univerity of Bamenda, University of Buea, University of Maroua and University of Yaounde 1 and university of Betoua). The quantitative data were analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistical tools. The descriptive statistical tools used are frequency count, percentages and multiple responses set which aimed at calculating the summary of findings for each variable for a quick comprehension of the overall findings. To test the hypotheses of the study, the Spearman rho test was used. In addition to the Spearman’s rho test, the Cox and Snell test was equally computed to explain the explanatory between the variable in the hypothesis in terms of percentage to ease comprehension. On the other hand, the qualitative data derived from open ended questions were analysed using the thematic analysis approach with the aid of themes, groundings/frequency and quotations. Finding showed that academic support (r-value 0.280**, p-value < 0.001) influence the social adjustment of newly admitted University students. The positivity of the influence implied that newly admitted University students are more likely to be socially adjusted when they have good academic support. The implications of this finding is that an increase in academic support will increase the student level of social adjustment in the state Universities in Cameroon. Based on the finding, it was recommended that the guidance counselors, lecturers and the community should help adolescents in their transition process from secondary school to the University so that the can easily adjust in their social and learning environment.","PeriodicalId":278080,"journal":{"name":"The American Journal of Social Science and Education Innovations","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121465102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children at risk of Specific Developmental Dyslexia (SDD) experience early difficulties in the school environment, including language, cognitive and motor functions as well as reduced socio-emotional skills. These multilevel difficulties early affect both the life of the child himself and the functioning of the family system (parents, siblings). OBJECTIVE. The present study is a systematic literature review aimed to investigate the role of internalizing and externalizing problems regarding the early occurrence of SDD at preschool age. METHODS. 131 studies retrieved as relevant to this topic. 5 researches met the predetermined inclusion criteria, while 112 out of the 117 article of the original search were rejected. RESULTS Based on the studies overview, the following results have emerged: (i) a variance regarding the view that internalizing and externalizing problems are prognostic factors for SDD, (ii) a lacking number of reviews referring to the relation of conduct and emotional problems with SDD in preschoolers, and (iii) an absence of data concerning the role of early treatment of internalizing and externalizing problems as an inhibitory factor in the emergence of SDD. CONCLUSIONS. As a general conclusion, the relation between externalizing, internalizing problems and early identification of SDD is recognized, whereas the exact interaction mechanism is not clearly determined. Moreover, further research is recommended on the combined early treatment of psycho-emotional and behavioral problems along with comprehensive intervention in early reading and writing difficulties.","PeriodicalId":278080,"journal":{"name":"The American Journal of Social Science and Education Innovations","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115212881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conducted survey that was adopted in this investigation shows to what extent the majority of the informants prefer to learn basic English in a short span of time instead of learning it proficiently in a long period of time, which means that they prefer to sacrifice proficiency for the sake of time. Hence, our query is related to the quality of the learned product and whether it satisfies the learners’ needs in terms of acceleration in the absence of any comprehensive model of language learning in a teaching context or not. This new comprehensive model should combine two extremely significant elements, the factor of time and the factor of proficiency in such a way as to take the full advantage of the notion of time in terms of learning and the use of the resources and energy adequately.","PeriodicalId":278080,"journal":{"name":"The American Journal of Social Science and Education Innovations","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129897853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
