The quality of rough rice stored at country elevator by aeration with fresh chilly air in winter was better than that of the rough rice stored under low-temperature storage and that of the rough rice stored at the country elevator with natural heat radiation in winter. The combination of storage of the rough rice at a temperature below ice point and utilization of fresh chilly air in winter enables the quality of rice to be preserved at a high level, similar to that of freshly harvested rice, without the requirement of a cooling unit or electricity. In this paper, a planting device which sticks cuttings into a plug tray is described as a final procedure of this cutting sticking robot system. The planting device grasped ten cuttings whose lower leaves were removed by the leaf removing device with a plate and could stick the cuttings into a plug tray at a time. From the experimental results, it was observed that its success rate was around 95%. Shibusawa, Yoshinobu Ota","doi":"10.11357/JSAM1937.59.5_13","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11357/JSAM1937.59.5_13","url":null,"abstract":"Recent breakthroughs in the establishment of a reverse-rotational rotary tiller with Sukuizume require the development of techniques for further reducing the soil cutting resistance while maintaining the function of backward throwing of tilled clods. This article describes the characteristics of cutting resistance and the backward throwing of a single-blade unit using a double-bladed experimental apparatus to cut a soil block. Three different test blades (a normal scoop-surface outer-edge, a short scoop-surface outer edge and a normal scoopsurface inner-edge) were used. Results showed that the short scoop-surface blade reduced tillage resistance by about 25% and also reduced the distance clods were thrown when compared with the normal scoop surface blade. The inner edged blade both produced high cutting resistance and reduced the clod throwing distance.
