On an international level this organization is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), a Geneva, Switzerland-based group that is specifically responsible for standards in the electrical and electronics industries. IEC functions in a similar manner to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Since international trade in magnet wire has continued to expand in recent years, it is import for producers and users to be aware of the existence and status of the relevant standards sanctioned and issued by IEC. This paper endeavors to give the reader a basic awareness of such standards and, at the same time, tries to give the status of the relevant standards. Additionally, a correlation will be given between these standards and the national standards covering magnet wire in North America, which are developed by NEMA. A final objective of this paper is to underscore the similarities found between the two and to describe some of the recent efforts being made to further harmonize those standards.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. While the attributes of designing in 3D are numerous and beneficial, committing to a high-end design software package often seems unjustifiable, especially when only a few new designs are required. An extremely attractive alternative to this dilemma is the integration of a powerful and innovative 3D modeling software called Rhinoceros/sup /spl reg//, or Rhino/sup /spl reg// for short. While costing substantially less than most 3D modeling programs, Rhino supplies an impressive array of advanced capabilities not found on many of the most powerful design software's on the market. Though not considered a parametric or feature-based modeler, Rhino often supplements these costly packages to accomplish complex surfacing challenges. This paper introduces this incredible program as it applies to the motor manufacturing industry and highlights the ease-of-use and incredible power of this modeling and presentation software. Additionally, an overview of different types of 3D modeling software is given in contextual reference to where this product may fit into a firm's design initiatives.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. This discussion is limited to solar photovoltaic (PV), wind generators, and battery storage that must be integrated and controlled in a safe and predictable way while interfacing with the public's power source. The paper shows that the individual components of an \"alternative\" power supply can be managed and controlled in a safe and responsible way and that such a system can be beneficial to the owners of both the alternative power system and the traditional power company. It is explained how, through technical advancement, it is possible for the two technologies to coexist as well as being mutually complementary. The benefits are far-reaching and long lasting to all that wish to partake in the emerging technologies.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. Modified polyethersulfone resin was applied to a 1/sup st/ and 2/sup nd/ layer for achieving both heat-resistance and solderability. And poly (phenylene sulfide) was selected as a 3/sup rd/ layer for improving chemical-resistance of the winding wire. It was confirmed that the newly developed wire has class B heat resistance according to safety standards relating to switching power supplies, and features excellent electrical endurance and a high voltage for the inception of partial discharge.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. While we know little about these processes, we need to know how much life we can expect from oil before we put it in service. There are a number of methods available: most use a small aliquot of oil, just enough to carry out the end-point determination. Most do not have sophisticated means by which one can confirm that the process is analogous to real-world oxidation processes. The subject method treats an aliquot of 1 L, sufficient for a full screening of oil properties. It also enables the user to confirm that it is analogous to natural oxidation processes.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat.
