The voltage applied to stator coils were at 3.81 kV, 4.76 kV and 6.6 kV, respectively. These stator coils have various types of artificial insulation defects such as large voids, semi-conductive coating damage and strand insulation fault. On-line PD monitoring system, digital PD detector (PDD) and turbine generator analyzer (TGA) were used to measure PD activity. Most of the defect mechanisms of a large motor can be associated with PD patterns such as internal, slot and conductor surface discharges. PD patterns coincide with on-line PD monitoring system, PDD and TGA. These instruments have an input bandwidth of 100 kHz-50 MHz, 40-400 kHz and 0.1350 MHz. Continuous on-line PD monitoring system was measuring the discharge activity of large motors that were installed with 80 pF capacitive couplers at the terminal box.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. If the transformers are installed with the abruptly changing load over limitation, its insulation materials are apt to unexpected aging with high temperature. Therefore we have been conscious of developing a transformer that is more thermally stable then conventional types. To measure temperature distribution in the winding of conventional and newly designed transformers, temperature sensors were installed for direct reading of oil and conductor temperatures at transformers. And we conducted accelerating aging test for these transformers. The measuring data had made use of the design to hybrid insulation system. Also we could find the possibility of this insulation system to apply in pole mounted transformers.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. With the development of bondable magnet wire that retains bond strength at temperatures exceeding 155/spl deg/C. It is now possible to use the physical and electrical properties of a bonded wire system to replace conventional varnish systems in some motor applications. Varnish provides more than mechanical strength to the stator of a motor, so one has to consider whether these features can be replaced by other systems or foregone in order to realize the costs savings associated with the use of bondable wire.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. The heating process lasted about eight hours and we gained film 20-30 /spl mu/m in thickness. The dispersion stability, morphology and structure of film were characterized by means of IR and AM. The results show that inorganic nanoparticles in PAA matrix can redisperse more effectively by ultrasonic irradiation than by conventional stirring. These films made in this craft polymerization that are examined by corona-resistant test. The results show that these films are largely different in the corona-resistance behavior between primeval PI and PI/nano-SiO/sub 2/ composite films. Meanwhile, we study the breakdown behavior of the films.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat. The interpretation of the measurement results is mostly made using a simple model taking the relative amount of oil and impregnated cellulose paper into account. This paper presents main findings from frequency domain dielectric spectroscopy measurements on transformer oil samples from different power transformers still in service. The interpretation model using oil permittivity of 2.2 combined with its conductivity is compared with actual measurements in the frequency range of 1000 Hz down to 0.01, sometimes down to 0.001 Hz. The temperature dependence and possible voltage dependence, especially at lower frequencies, are also investigated.","PeriodicalId":274147,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings: Electrical Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Technology Conference (Cat.
