An important disadvantage of this structure is the unequal distribution of losses among the switches. The performances of 3L-NPC structure were improved by developing the 3L-ANPC (Active-NPC) converter which have more degrees of freedom. In this paper the switching states are studied for different PWM strategies. A numeric calculus method for the total losses in switches was also presented in order to compare the efficiency for the 3L-NPC and 3L-ANPC converters. This paper presents a technique used for the reliability evaluation of deregulated distribution systems considering priority of load curtailment using reliability network equivalent techniques. A reliability model for each market player in a deregulated power system is introduced in which a generation company is represented by an equivalent multistate generation provider (EMGP) and the transmission system is represented by an equivalent multistate transmission provider (EMTP). A Genco, which has reserve agreements with other Gencos, is represented by an equivalent multistate generation provider with reserve agreement (EMGPWR).This paper has provided a new approach in determining the interrupt value during the Transmission contingency for each customer. Optimal power flow (OPF) is used to replace AC power flow to check network constraints in each contingency state. Reserve agreements between suppliers are considered to improve reliability indices. The motor voltage transients and related EMI emission are strongly correlated with resonance effects detectable in load circuits. The frequency impedance characteristics analysis allows to identify and determine resonance frequency ranges which are the foremost contribution for voltage ringing phenomena. The paper presents a method of analysis of AC motor windings parasitic capacitances with the particular account of cable influence on the broad-spectrum overall performance. This scheme is introduced in compliance with the current trend of environment-friendly hybrid power generation. Wind energy, solar energy and fuel cells are all potential renewable green sources of energy. The hybrid scheme comprises those three sources of energy in the form of a wind turbine-induction generator assembly, photovoltaic array and a fuel cell (hydrogen). The system is validated with the proposed novel controllers and under load and renewable sources excursions and sudden changes in the photovoltaic array characteristics due to variations in air temperature and solar irradiation. Three key controllers are proposed: thyristor bridge α-firing angle controller, permanent magnet dc motor dynamic speed controller and a novel dc-bus Green-Plug Modulated Power Filter (GPMPF) controller. In the long run, peak loads cause premature material fatigue of the drive components alongside high thermal loads in the asynchronous machine. Furthermore load peaks arise in the supply grid, which leads to higher overheads (demand charge). A new drive train with a novel non-linear speed control (SC-control) was developed based on the operating performance of commercial comminuting units (e.g. shredding plants), according to the specifications of higher throughput, damping the load peaks arising from the comminuting process and thus also, lowering the voltage fluctuations in the electrical grid. A non-linear SC-control was designed and tested. By this a rotational speed flexible operation of the shredding drive system was realised, so that the rotating masses' kinetic energy is used to smooth the load peak from the process. The neutral wire is connected to the middle point of the DC-capacitor voltage. The controller proposed here is an extension of the one proposed for a three-wire Shunt Active Power Filter. The controller is a two-level nested controller. The outer-loop generates the reference current for the inner-loop. The latter, is a state-feedback current controller with integral action. The former consists of (i) a selective harmonic elimination technique and (ii) a DC-capacitor-voltage controller. This paper will focus on the neutral-wire current control and on the balance control of the DC-capacitor voltage. This rectifier is based on the scott transformer and only uses two single-phase buck-boost rectifiers. In this way only two switches are used. To achieve sinusoidal input current and high power factor, a fast and robust pulse with sliding mode modulation of the input current is proposed. An output voltage compensator is also used to establish the amplitude of the reference currents.
