It also outlined some salient factors that are responsible for or causes information overload and they entail the followings as enshrined in the study: Multiple sources of information; the availability of too much information; the difficulty in managing information; the information's irrelevance or insignificance; The inability to comprehend the material due to a lack of time. Furthermore, massive amounts of fresh information are constantly being created on a daily basis; pressure to create and compete in the provision of knowledge, particularly in the academic setting. The lack of complexity and nascent simplicity of creating, duplicating, and sharing information online, leading to a quantity over quality effect in many institutions and businesses; the absence of complexity and nascent simplicity of creating, copying, and sharing information online; The exponential development of information delivery methods, such as radio, television, print media, websites, e-mail, mobile telephony, RSS feeds, and so on; the growing weight of historical data available to us; a plethora of inconsistent, contradicting, and simply wrong information; the lack of clear structure in groups of information and poor clues as to the relationships between those groups; the lack of simple procedures for quickly processing, comparing, and evaluating information sources; the lack of clear structure in groups of information and poor clues as to the relationships between those groups. The study pointed out some symptoms that can be seen as evidence or signs indicating that there is the presence of information overload thereafter, it brought out some consequences of information overload specifically to an individual and collectively to an organization. In this paper the researcher ended the work by outlining some remedies on how to combat information overload since it has become a matter that has come to stay.","PeriodicalId":272634,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123799720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used a cross-sectional survey research technique and had two research aims. In Katsina State, there were eleven (11) tertiary institutions with 1,691 teaching faculty. A sample of 182 people was drawn using a proportionate sampling method. Data was collected through questionnaires, which were then analyzed using frequency tables. The study discovered, among other things, that books are available in most tertiary institutions. It is apparent that academic institutions in Katsina State have a scarcity of photographic, video, and eBook resources. Meanwhile, the results suggest that the instructors under investigation had greater access to some sorts of information sources, such as books and reference materials, compared to other types of information sources. Based on the study’s findings, more finances should be allocated to libraries by their universities so that they can secure additional information resources and subscriptions to internet databases for successful teaching and research. Libraries affiliated with state tertiary institutions should provide alternative information sources, including as audio, video, pictures, and eBooks, more freely available and accessible for optimal accessibility and use.","PeriodicalId":272634,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126673430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This calls for investigation on the extent of impact on librarians’ efficiency and health. The study empirically investigated the extent of shift work impact on library staff efficiency and health in academic libraries in Delta State, Nigeria. The study was a descriptive survey and the population includes 182 staff in the academic libraries. Questionnaire was used for data gathering. The questionnaire was validated and reliability established with Crombach-Alpa reliability Co-efficient, 0.86. Data retrieved were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage. The study found that, to a great extent, shift work disrupts shift workers’ family life and has negative effects on efficiency and health. Also, the study found that service level is higher during morning shift, but the shift workers prefer afternoon shift. A shift worker whose pulse corresponds to diurnal activity by a light/dark cycle should go through phase modification when adjusting to a new light/dark cycle, especially the night/ afternoon shift workers). Adequate lighting could be used to reduce/mitigate circadian rhythms’ disruption in shift workers.","PeriodicalId":272634,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127965733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study addressed the question whether the schools under the public education system in Kerala have the facilities to shift the conventional classroom teaching to the online class. And also examined how far the online classes in Kerala contented with the John Cable and Clara Cheung’s eight principles of effective online teaching. Findings show that the online classes through the television channel fail to comply with the eight principles of effective online classes. Instead of asynchronous teaching through the television channel, the government needs to take initiative to impart interactive classes. The government should try to use the possibilities of a learning management system that will help to improve the teacher - student interactions.","PeriodicalId":272634,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116756347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population comprised all the undergraduate registered users of the university libraries in the zone. The stratified random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 600 registered library users for the study from four university libraries in the zone. A total of one research question were raised and one hypothesis formulated to guide the study. A self-constructed questionnaire entitled: “Determinants of Gender and Users’ level of Satisfaction with Circulation Policies in Academic Libraries Questionnaire (DGULSCPALQ)” was the instrument used for data collection. A reliability of the instrument was carried out using 100 registered users of the Delta State University Library, Abraka over a time lag of two weeks in order to determine its content and construct reliability. Data generated were analysed using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation, which yielded an r of 0.80, which was considered adequate for the instrument. The data collected were analysed by using mean and standard deviation to answer the research question, while z-test statistical technique was used to test the formulated hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that Federal universities had moderate mean in the level of satisfaction with library opening hours than State owned Universities; The study also revealed that male library users had a high mean in the level of satisfaction with library opening hours on week days and a high mean score in level of satisfaction with the total number of cards issued for borrowing of items than female, there were no significant differences between federal and state universities in user’s level of satisfaction with library holdings, borrowers’ cards, loan period, fines and reservation. There was no significant difference between federal and state owned universities except in user’s level of satisfaction with library opening hours. Also, there was no significant difference between male and female users except in users’ level of satisfaction with library loan periods. Finally, it was recommended that public university libraries in the North Central Zone of Nigeria should extend their opening hours on Sundays to make the users more satisfied with opening hours on that day; that the libraries should ensure that their circulation policies on fines for damaged and lost borrowed materials should reflect the present realities/cost of the items.","PeriodicalId":272634,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127877526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
