As an example of the new canonical problem, we consider electromagnetic wave scattering by an edge of the semi-infinite dielectric slab. It is appropriate to describe the interdependence between amplitudes of the incident waves and scattering or reflecting waves (space and surface) in matrix form. Our task is to find the radar cross-section of the dielectric disk.","PeriodicalId":270641,"journal":{"name":"MMET '96. The variational formulation of the synthesis problem according to the given magnitude pattern is used. The mean-square deviation of given and synthesized magnitudes is chosen as an optimization criterion. It permits one to improve the approximation quality of the magnitudes, to influence the polarized properties of synthesized directivity patterns, and also to satisfy set additional requirements. Examples of synthesis of the contoured directivity patterns, which cover the given territory uniformly are presented. In these examples, the hybrid antenna consisting of a rectangular cutting from a parabolic reflector and a feed array is used.","PeriodicalId":270641,"journal":{"name":"MMET '96. By means of the double layer potential, this problem reduces to the hypersingular integral equation of the 1-st kind. The numerical method for solving the hypersingular integral equation at bodies of arbitrary form is proposed. This method is a method of discrete vortex type. Comparison of the exact solution for a sphere with the numerical one is carried out. Results of the computation for a cube and for a plate are presented.","PeriodicalId":270641,"journal":{"name":"MMET '96.
