One of the efforts to prevent the extinction of the gibbons is the ex-situ’s conservation for example zoo. The purpose of this research to determine the daily behavior and the duration of activity of gibbons in habitat at ex-situ in Kinantan Zoo Bukittinggi and to know the difference of frequency daily activities of gibbons. The research was conducted in the month of October-December 2019. The object of this research are six gibbons. The research method was descriptive statistics. The type of this research is observation. Based on the research result, the daily behavior of gibbons at Kinantan Zoo Bukittinggi consists of: the behavior of moving, the behavior of voiced, the behavior of eating, the behavior of social, the behavior of rest, and other behavior (urinate). Total of activity time gibbons obtained during 30 days of observation is 18.319 minutes. The highest behavior shown in the behavior of the resting (12.920 minutes or 70,52% of total daily activity gibbons). The frequency of daily behavior with a long observation period of 10 hours until 10 hours 30 minutes every day.","PeriodicalId":270561,"journal":{"name":"JURNAL ILMU-ILMU KEHUTANAN","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126463669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The need of wood raw materials for construction was increasingly increasing while the availability of high quality wood was increasingly scarce. Therefore, in order to meet this an effort was needed to produce raw materials to replace wood, its was the development of laminated products or glulam made of bamboo apus (Gigantochloa apus) as structural and construction materials. Based on this, this study was conducted to determine the quality of glulam from Gigantochloa apus by using styrofoam adhesives based on number and pattern of layer arrangement. Sample was made of Gigantochloa apus with sized 30cm × 10cm arranged with the number and pattern of layer arrangement that have been determined. This study uses a complete randomized design combination with two treatments. Factor A was the number of layers (three layers, four layers and five layers) and factor B was the arrangement pattern (diagonal, horizontal and vertical). The physical and mechanical properties of glued laminated beams of Gigantochloa apus were tested based on JAS 234: 2003 Standard. The results showed that the quality of glulam met the physical properties of moisture content. While the mechanical properties of MOE and MOR did not meet the standards, so they did not be use as structural materials. Combination with horizontal, diagonal and horizontal lamina arrangement patterns gives the best results on the mechanical properties of glulam.","PeriodicalId":270561,"journal":{"name":"JURNAL ILMU-ILMU KEHUTANAN","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133731400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maintaining the success of Timor deer breeding at the University of Riau the need for direct observation of the environment and the availability of food at the likely location of Timor deer breeding to avoid undesirable things. This research was conducted to be a reference for better management of Timor Deer's breeding efforts at the University of Riau. The materials and tools used are moisture meters, measuring instruments, cameras, compasses, tape measures, ropes, pH meters and clinometers. The method of investigation used is the census method using the path system. The study area of 2.07 ha with the census method records the water conditions, the topography, the protection of the canopy, the vegetation, the temperature and the humidity, which were not previously known. For an investigation area of 2.07 ha, a plot of 20 m width and 5000 m length is needed by drawing a line of intersection for population indications observed in the prospective breeding area. The results showed that the physical location of the potential stag breeding at Riau University could very well be determined and developed as a breeding ground for Timor stags. Suitability of Timor-Deer habitat (Cervus timorensis) at potential breeding grounds of the University of Riau supports various forest types, shade trees, feed types, roofing stratification and plant vegetation for the Timor-Deer breed (Cervus timorensis).
