However , at the end of rainy season , a large amount of sedimentatbn afises in the river 」t causes frequent accidents such as groundings. Therefbre, thosc rivers need to be dredged fbr the safety navigation . For this purpose, 置t is very important to measure the water depth timeiy and easily . However , it is still difficult to measure water depth in wide are 乱 The authors have proposed a simple method . Tlle m 巳asurement of water depth ef the river using Kinematic GPS (K −GPS ) sounder is investigated . However , the tidal effect should be taking into an account fbr the precise measurement . The tide level of each measurement point estimated by linear interpolation f}om tide tables. Substituting 血 us est1mated t量de level仕om the measured surface altitude ofthe river sur 飴ce by K−GPS , river chart datum of each polnt was estimated. Thus estimated chart datum on downstre 一bound and 叩 stream −bound coincide weU , and the proposed method of eliminating tide was verified .
