By increasing the spectral efficiency, it is applicable to various areas where spectrum is a rare resource. Nevertheless, it still presents key challenges such as the interference and the false alarm possibilities. The community of research is committed to find the suitable solution in these cases. In some situations, it could be that the primary transmitter and the secondary receiver are very distant from each other and thus, direct communication is not possible. Relay nodes are used for establishing communication in such cases. Though selecting the best relay among others is a very difficult task. This paper offers a summary of cognitive radio, the significance of relaying network and the algorithm of relay selection.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123668597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many traditional tracking algorithms fails to track the moving objects in real-time, this paper proposes a robust method to overcome the issue, based on the combination of particle filter and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which predicts the position of the object in the image sequences using stable wavelet features, which in turn are extracted from multi scale 2-D discrete wavelet transform. Later, PCA approach is used to construct the effective subspace. Similarity degree between the object model and the prediction obtained from particle filter is used to update the feature vector to handle occlusion and complex background in video frames. Experimental results obtained from the proposed method are encouraging.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"689 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116093814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Self compacting concrete was first invited in 1988 to achieve durable concrete structures .Design of Reinforced concrete slab is often compromised by their ability to resist shear stress at punching shear surface area. The connection between slabs and supporting columns could be susceptible to high shear stress and might cause sudden and brittle failure. Punching shear failure takes the form of truncated pyramid shape. This program includes investigating the effect of SCC, slab thickness on the punching shear behaviour in terms of load-deflection response and ultimate failure load, failure characteristic of punching shear failure (shape of failure zone and size of failure zone) of simply supported slabs of 1000 x 1000 x 50 and 75mm under concentrated load at centre of slab. The slabs are made with both SCC and Conventional concrete (CC). Investigation included two way specimens with different thickness to evaluate the performance of specimen with different thickness and the effect of thickness on punching shear capacity and performance .","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127627444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The regions receiving heavy precipitation are facing floods resulting in huge amount of water runs into the sea. Contrarily, the regions, without adequate rainfall are suffering from persistent droughts. To overcome such disparities in the distribution of water, National Water Development Agency (NWDA) put a proposal to transfer water through link canals between rivers. The current study is limited to two river basins, Pennar and Cauvery. The present study is confined to Pennar (somasila) to Cauvery (Grand Anicut) whose length is 483 km. The study consist of10 km. buffer on either side of the canal and it occupies 17,215.68 sq. km. out of these 10,105.96 sq.km.is proposed command area which falls in Chittoor, Chengalpattu, North Arcott and South Arcott districts. Using IRS-P6, LISS-III data the characteristics of the rocks, lineaments, drainage, settlements and land use/land cover are mapped for better analysis and the environmental impact. The study indicated that Current fallow land of 5340.14 km 2 and 6307.98 km 2 of cropland will be brought under cultivation which is more than what is NWDA estimated land that will be benefited. The canal will provide water for irrigation and drinking to 4597 villages and 244 villages to be rehabilitated. 119 culverts/canal bridges and 24 aqueducts have to be constructed across the canal.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128210356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
