Shearing happens by extreme plastic deformation followed by breaking which propagates deeper into the thickness. The upper blade is fixed to the ram assembly that moves vertically and lower knife is fixed in the stationary table. This project is rooted on the necessity of industry to develop a shearing machine for cutting 5mm thick stainless steel sheets. In this project we will design a CAD model of shearing machine and analyze using FEA technique.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133004370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Climate change issues have compelled policy makers to look into various ways to reduce carbon footprint and use green, renewable energy. Solar power, along with other alternative sources for energy, is quite popular these days. Talking about Solar, the primary disadvantage of solar power is that it obviously cannot be created during the night and power generated is also reduced during times of cloud cover. Energy Storage is a flexible asset that provides unprecedented flexibility in grid optimization. Cost effective solar energy storage methods are urgently needed due to the increased demand for solar power and due to its variability. But in today’s scenario, energy storage systems are not commercially economic for all customers, and that to more work needs to be done by industry, government, and regulators to support the continuing cost reductions. It is expected that the Energy Storage costs would slide to 41% by 2020.The value that solar and storage can together add to the energy system is leading to a more efficient, cleaner, and more secure future. However, solar energy storage becomes critical when unsteady sources of energy provide. Thus, affordable energy storage system along with the cheaper Solar energy would be lethal combination making an ultimate Game Changer for the Power Industry and Sustainability.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114859440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gulhane","doi":"10.21013/JTE.ICSESD201731","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21013/JTE.ICSESD201731","url":null,"abstract":"Constructed wetlands are systems of artificial wastewater treatment which consists of shallow ponds or channels that have been planted with aquatic plants. The treatment is based on the natural, biological, physical and chemical treatment of wastewater. The technique is reported to be cost effective as compared to other methods. The constructed wetlands have impermeable clay or synthetic coatings and artificial structures for controlling the direction of flow, liquid retention time and the water level. However, there are certain limitations of constructed wetland system, which need improvement for its wide adoptability. As such the effort was made to assist the constructed wetland system with attached growth system with the aim to design an economical and user friendly waste water treatment option for the small community. The laboratory scale model was fabricated using GI sheet of thickness 0.5 mm. The overall capacity of the model was 275 L. The laboratory scale reactor model consisted of four compartments out of which first three compartments were based on attached growth system and the fourth compartment acted as constructed wetland reactor. All the three compartments were packed with different types of artificial, semi-artificial and natural media. The fourth compartment consisted of media packed from bottom as aerocon stone layers 03 in numbers followed by snail shell, followed by a soil layer of 80 mm thick which holds the plants in rows. The reactor was operated as continuous flow reactor with varying detention time and change of different type of media packed in the reactor. The performance of Customized Constructed Wetland reactor was observed under various operating conditions for removal of BOD, COD and TS parameters. The paper presents the details regarding the development of the reactor model, operation of the reactor model and results obtained during the course of study. The paper also cover the discussion regarding the improved performance of reactor noted during the study and adoptability of the developed reactor model for community waste treatment.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128398944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Forbes calls the Internet of Things a giant network of connected things, with relationships between people and people, people and things, and things and things. We consider the problem of tracking physical browsing by users in indoor spaces such as retail stores[13]. Analogous to online browsing, where users choose to go to certain web pages, dwell on a subset of pages of interest to them, and click on links of interest while ignoring others, we can draw parallels in the physical setting, where a user might walk purposefully to a section of interest, dwell there for a while, gaze at specific items, and reach out for the ones that they wish to examine more closely. As our contribution, we design techniques to explore and track each of these elements of physical browsing using a combination of a smartphone shopping app which eases the customers' physical shopping experience and BLE beacons for [5]. We believe that access to physical browsing information of shoppers in retail stores can not only provide crucial insights into shoppers’ needs and interests but also reveal the effectiveness of the store layout itself.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"20 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133107287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that huge pile of wastes, plastic is one of the prime culprits for degrading our nature. The used plastics (which are not recycled) are either end up in oceans or landfills and continue to create environmental problems. On regular basis, thousands of tonnes of plastic waste is being created all around the world. In some cases, recycling plastic is costlier than using virgin plastic. Hence there is a necessity to create a situation in which adequate price for recycling plastic must come into play. Such type of situation can be created by using plastic as a primary construction material for small houses. The main objective of the study is to show how plastic as a construction material can reduce the stacks of junk plastic piles around the globe. Along with that how it can reduce the time and labor required for construction and also help to reduce the casualties during natural calamities like earthquake and to understand the ‘total plastic’ construction phenomenon with its advantages and disadvantages. Today there are some companies which are trying to use plastic as a primary construction material but none of them tried for the total plastic approach. The studies have shown that total plastic approach can eventually reduce the recycling and implementation costs of waste plastic, the time consumed and labor required for plastic recycling. Also to understand the actual practical situation of using plastic houses and required structure and method for shelters made out of such material were analyzed using FEA software. The problems like fireproofing and base development were also studied.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123189288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address these issues properly, it is necessary to mainstream sustainability in every sector of operations and it is the responsibility of every industry and every individual to contribute towards various sustainability issues / challenges for achieving long term sustainability goals. Globally, the Information Technology (IT) sector has grown up in multiple folds in a short span of time with substantial contribution to global economy and business. Rapid growth of IT industry is positively contributing to higher growth of infrastructure development (commercial & residential) and employment generation. But, along with the contribution to economical, industrial and developmental aspects, IT sector is also contributing to increased energy and natural resources consumption, generation of electronic waste (E-Waste) and increased carbon emissions (due to energy consumption and increased business travel activities.) The rapid economic growth and changes in IT sector has made it necessary for the companies to update and monitor their own technological competence. This further leads to additional resource consumption and E-waste generation. With high business growth potential and rising demand, IT sector is going through various major sustainability issues and challenges including high energy consumption, waste management, carbon emissions and human resource management. To the many fold growth of IT sector in last decade, IT sector SME is also one of the major contributors and the sector is growing continuously. But due to many constrains, IT-SME sector focus is mainly on business development and economic growth to sustain in the highly competitive market by providing different value added, cost effective services and sustainable solution to the clients. Including effective use of cloud computing, which is considered as one of the energy efficient option for the services offered. If we consider the environmental impact for an SME in view of above challenges of IT sector, it is not significant. However, considering the huge number of SMEs operating globally, the cumulative impact is significant and cannot be ignored. The detailed paper will include analysis of the current scenario of overall IT sector including SMEs of India and Global, in view of their awareness about the sustainability issues, possible measures of improving sustainability contribution and the challenges faced by them for implementation of sustainability measures. Further the paper will also discuss about how the sector can embrace sustainability to reduce environmental impact by energy conservation, carbon footprint reduction along with a goal to achieve Profit Growth and Stakeholder welfare.","PeriodicalId":269688,"journal":{"name":"IRA-International Journal of Technology & Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129360386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
