Also, it was found that there is no affixation, reduplication, or compounding. Furthermore, syntactically aspect, most sentences are delivered in interrogative sentences, command clauses, complete sentences, exclamations, incomplete sentences, informative sentences, complete informational sentences, ungrammatical sentences, and complex sentences. The last figurative language used in several scenes is idiomatic phrases, metaphors, personification, and similes.","PeriodicalId":268719,"journal":{"name":"Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124238043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to describe the symptoms and causes of Alicia Berenson, who experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In this study, the writer applies a theory of the psychology of literature by Wellek and Warren and the theory of PTSD by Carlson & Ruzek. This study uses a psychological approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative. There are several PTSD symptoms found in Alicia’s characters, i.e., reliving the trauma through flashbacks, negative self-view, aggressive behavior toward oneself or others, impulsive behavior, social isolation, emotional regulation, and relationship difficulty. The causes of Alicia’s PTSD are a car accident at a young age, verbal abuse, sexual abuse, child abuse, and betrayal by her husband. It can be concluded that Alicia experienced PTSD, which later became complex PTSD due to repeated verbal abuse over a long period.","PeriodicalId":268719,"journal":{"name":"Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126046796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data collection technique used is a focus group discussion of structured interviews with three Indonesian and three Foreign employees. The interviews were done by dividing the employees into two discussion groups according to their ethnicity to answer the same research questions. The results show that the horizontal communication process between employees is going well and needs to be influenced by the diversity of employees in terms of ethnicity. Barriers to horizontal communication between employees are communication barriers in terms of employee psychology and semantics. Efforts made by employees in overcoming horizontal communication conflicts are by compromising. However, Indonesian employees tend to make efforts to integrate the implications of this study following the results of the research, which stated that employees’ ethnic diversity did not directly affect the continuity of horizontal communication among employees in the company.","PeriodicalId":268719,"journal":{"name":"Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123354726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
