This control aims to improve both the transient response and the disturbances rejection. The structure ofthe controller is a proportional-integral plus a proportional. In the proportional-integra loop a repetitive controller is added and in the proportional loop a posicast controller is added. The purpose of the posicast controller in the inverter is to improve the transient response to load steps. The transient response that is obtained is a low response damped with few oscillations and an overdraft of 21%. The repetitive controller has the function of improving the disturbances rejection, achieving a total harmonic distortion ofvoltage to 2.64% with non- Iinear loads and maintaining the amplitude, frequency and waveform of the voltage signal.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114563135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Controlled switching is used to reduce grid voltage drop during no load energization of power transformer due to high inrush current during its charging; specifically, controlled deenergization to lock residual flux at lowest possible level followed by controlled energization considering residual flux to achieve inrush current mitigation. A verified simple and easily applicable approach to estimate residual flux in individual phases based on inrush peaks obtained during first time energization of power transformers is used to further reduce inrush current to best possible levels.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124001006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the stochastic conventional generation models must firstly be determined based on monthly probability distribution functions (PDF). To this aim, a novel methodology to determine an “average” probability distribution function, representing the behavior of the entire year of each plant, has been proposed. This methodology was developed by using the mathematical concept of convolution. The determined generation models together with the load model and the wind generation model are processed via Monte Carlo simulation in order to determine reliability indices for the SNI. Finally, based on the stochastic generation adequacy results, a novel methodology for estimating the maximum penetration of IRE in hydrothermal electric power systems is proposed. The obtained results allow recommending appropriate levels of wind generation installed capacity and suggesting proper operational actions in order to ensure sufficient reserve capacity to face fluctuations caused by IRE.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124050816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main processes that take place in the WEM are hourly power auctions, were, based on the offers from energy generators, the electrical system operator covers the energy demand of low power level users. However, even though the energy generation utilities are public service companies, great part of the information related to their offering prices during auctions is private or hard to acquire, which makes it hard to fully understand or characterize the energy auction's dynamics. In the need of a tool that eases the short term understanding of the WEM, this article develops a computational algorithm in MATLAB capable of replicating Colombia's power market behaviour in terms of the market clearing price. The algorithm can be used with academic purposes to stablish diverse case studies, or by generation companies to determine the auction offer that suits them the most.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115223811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is why the analysis of nonlinear dynamic systems using computational techniques based on chaos theory gives the possibility of detecting these instability phenomena. This paper presents a new approach for analyzing the short-term voltage stability based on the concept of chaos, the representation of dynamics in an embedding dimension, the computing of Lyapunov exponents and a multidimensional analysis for determining embedding parameters using space-time techniques. The results of the application of the proposed techniques for assessing short-term voltage stability in the New England 39-bus test system are presented, which demonstrate that the proposed approach is suitable for determining stability/instability state to post- contingency voltage time series with complex dynamic behavior.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127651196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Probabilistic Contingency Severity Index for Dynamic Reactive Power Planning","authors":"C. Villegas, M. Rios","doi":"10.1109/TDC-LA.2018.8511666","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/TDC-LA.2018.8511666","url":null,"abstract":"Planning of Flexible AC Transmission systems (FACTS) and other reactive power sources has traditionally been done considering steady state conditions. The strength of FACTS is mainly seen when considering the dynamic behavior after the occurrence of any disturbance like when a fault occurs, because they can stabilize the system voltage and control power flow. At the same time, transient voltage dips and slow voltage recovery issues are most effectively addressed by fast responding dynamic VAR sources. So, this paper proposes a probabilistic contingency severity index based on the probability of occurrence of the faults and the dynamic impacts on the network measured in trajectory voltage deviations that can be included as a dynamic constraint for reactive power planning. In this way, the objective of dynamic reactive power planning is to determine where and with what capacity shunt-FACTS should be located to obtain a voltage profile within acceptable limits. The proposed probabilistic contingency severity index shows its effectiveness as dynamic criteria for optimization of location and sizing of shunt-FACTS devices by testing on the IEEE 9 nodes system and on the IEEE 39 nodes system.","PeriodicalId":267301,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition - Latin America (T&D-LA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131248398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the UV index was treated with a polynomial function to estimate the global radiation signal incident at the sample time, the correlation factor is 0,9642 and the RMSE is 30,90.
