For reducing bulk, the designed diplexer is exclusively composed of coupled resonators and channel filters realize dual-band filtering functions. Compared to classical multiplexing architectures, the proposed design eliminates additional waveguide elements and leads to a more compact device. The integration of a large force electrostatic actuator has permitted dramatic improvement of the switch fabrication yield and reliability. The device does not suffer from well-known RF-MEMS issues such as drift in control voltage, temperature sensitivity. The study has been carried out using an in-house CAD tool based on analytical formulas, and ideal focal source and unit-cells in order to provide generic results. We show that a quadruple-feed configuration leads to a reduction of the focal length by about a factor two, with similar performance in terms of gain and aperture efficiency. Imaging of such nuclei, however, requires development of sensitive MRI coils. This paper describes the design of surface receive coils for 13C imaging in small animals. The design is based on application-specified coil profile and includes impedance matching and balancing circuits. Active decoupling is implemented in order to minimize the influence of the receiving coil on the homogeneity of the transmit-coil field. Both circuits are based on SiC varactors, conceived to enable high-voltage, high-power operation, and suitable for application in the transmitter chain of reconfigurable radios. The BAWR consists of a piezoelectric layer sandwiched between bottom and top electrodes. Its resonance frequency shifts as an environment temperature changes, normally ranging -25~-30 ppm/ °C, of which phenomenon is referred to temperature coefficient of frequency (TCF). When a resonator has a large TCF value the gap between adjacent bands is reduced and interference occurs. To overcome this problem, a low TCF value is required while maintaining the characteristics such as carrier bandwidth, high quality factor (Q), and high effective coupling coefficient (kt2). In this work, a new BAWR structure with SiO2/SiN layers both on the top electrode and under the bottom electrode enabled TCF of -0.3~-7.8 ppm/°C, Q of 2400, and kt2 of 5.4%, respectively. Cascading multiple quarter-wavelength line segments leads to an increase of coupling bandwidth up to 180% but also results in discontinuities of geometry and thus in strong reflections. Furthermore, the isolation is diminished. To avoid these effects a design technique for the generation of continous, non-uniform geometries is analyzed and implemented. Two methods for the coupler synthesis are proposed and compared. One is an approximational approach and uses two sets of equations. The other uses accurate 2D field simulation of the propagating modes and is universally applicable to any kind of coupled transmission lines. The completely synthesized couplers are simulated in CST Microwave Studio and achieve very good results for coupling, isolation and return loss. A nominal -10 dB wideband coupler at a center frequency of 15GHz and a nominal bandwidth of 164% is built in a multilayer stackup. The use of a MCU allows custom adjustment of the operation of PIN diode through the program and also allows an easy connection between Personal Computer (PC), Energy Detector (ED) and antenna. The MCU then processes the data obtained from those devices and produces feedback signals, based upon which system automatically corrects the antenna.
