Ohmic RF-MEMS cantilever switches are used to connect printed line sections placed over the side wall of a TE101 mode cavity so realising an equivalent movable inner wall. The effective width of the cavity, thus its resonant frequency, can so be changed by activating the MEMS switches. Such a configuration is shown to yield a frequency tuning range up to 3% with unloaded Qs of the order of 1000 and negligible bandwidth variations (<; 10%). Measurements of a 23 GHz cavity show 730 MHz frequency shift (3.1%) with Qs of 750 and 1450 depending on the MEMS state. K-band 4th order filters have also been designed and fabricated. To shrink the required area and enhance overall performance, the passive components can be co-designed into an antenna to deliver a so-called multi-function antenna, possessing not only the function of radiation but also filtering, impedance matching, and/or balanced-to-unbalanced transforming. In this paper, we presented the design of such a multi-function antenna based on a typical filter synthesis process. In the approach, the antenna serves as the last-stage resonator and load of a filter, while circuit resonators embedded in the antenna structure behave as the filter's front stages. Without increasing circuit area and sacrificing antenna gain, the accomplished antenna exhibits better band-edge selectivity and flat passband response. Through more careful leveling modeling in the case of higher order multipliers under various detection schemes, one can better study structural effects on instantaneous power accuracy. With this method, an open-ended waveguide probe is used, which is pressed against the skin (or bandage), to measure the reflection coefficient in the millimeter-wave frequency band of 40-60 GHz. Thanks to todays low-cost millimeter-wave silicon-based chip technology, this method could possibly be made available for massive usage in home-care situations. However, the measurement conditions in such situations might be ill-defined in the sense that parameters such as probe pressure and probeskin angle are not well controlled. In this paper, two candidate probe types are investigated as regards the sensitivity for probe pressure on the skin, probe-skin angle and layers of bandage between probe and skin. The probes considered are either with or without flange. The test-set uses discrete packaged MEMS switches to provide reconfigurable paths for common and differential mode separately. Therefore, this system is suitable for measurements of differential circuits without making multiple connections, avoiding some of the uncertainties derived from the reconnecting of the ports. Two calibration sets implemented on GaAs and Si/SiGe:C wafer processes were quantitatively analyzed. Obtained results demonstrated that for most practical cases, the desired 5%-level of confidence of extracted parameters of high-reflective devices can easily be achieved without additional efforts. Instead of having two different ports feeding the slots, they form part of a 3-line-system able to guide an even- or odd-mode. It is shown that the even-mode excites a horizontal and the odd-mode a vertical polarisation. Taking into account that any circular polarisation can be composed from two orthogonal linear polarisations, the antenna is proved to be also excitable for left handed and right handed circular polarisation. Feeding the 3-line-system with a MMIC responsible for all amplitude and phase adjustments, thus saving space and cost, makes this antenna attractive for being used in large arrays. Based on the properties of power transfer efficiencies for misalignments of two resonators with no relay, it is possible to explain the peculiar properties in power transfer efficiency for the cases with relay resonator misaligned. All the theoretical predictions have been confirmed by measurement results, both of which are in good agreement. The design and construction of a hybrid broadband TBM based on commercial silicon crossed quad diodes is presented. Broadband planar baluns and the use of balanced edge and broadside coupled striplines allow for covering an RF / LO frequency range of 1 GHz to 35 GHz and at least 10 GHz IF bandwidth, if we claim for up- and downconversion loss values below 15 dB. This is achieved with local oscillator power levels PLO ∈ [10,14] dBm and an input 1 dB compression point of 6 dBm. A-D converters are usually used to precisely detect the target information. They however become expensive for short range applications using narrow pulse widths because they need high speed operation using sampling clocks with higher pulse repetition frequencies to satisfy the sampling theorem. To reduce the cost of the digital signal processing circuits, we applied a manner that the reflected pulse trains are easily converted into digital signals using sampling clocks with lower pulse repetition frequencies based on the sequential sampling technique.
