Major compounds, such as CH4 and CO2, and minor compounds, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), were identified and quantified. Cobalt and nickel based materials synthesized using coprecipitation method were tested in the dry reforming of methane reaction (DRM). Toluene was selected as model molecule for VOCs. 12h-stability tests at 750°C were performed in the presence or absence of toluene in order to mimic the effect of volatile organic compounds found in biogas. Several concentrations of toluene were used during the DRM tests. The effect of this molecule on the catalytic performance was determined. Used samples were characterized by thermal analysis (DTA-TG) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results showed that even though the presence of toluene did affect the activity and selectivity of the catalyst to the DRM reaction, it did not cause the direct deactivation of the material. It was concluded that the valorization of biogas in the DRM reaction is possible even before it has completed its upgrading process.","PeriodicalId":266552,"journal":{"name":"2021 12th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127231311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The loads were estimated virtually based on 24 hours of working hour. Load total load of electric application for [motel, mosque, and gas station] were found to be 18.3 kW. A hybrid system designing of the proposed compound building was carried out. The economic analysis of the hybrid system was taken in our consideration. At the same time, the wining scenario which produce less CO2 emissions to preserve the environment was evaluated. In order to achieve the aims of this study, three different gird’s tariff scenarios, ranges between (A=20, B=25, and C= 30 cents) were simulated. From the obtained results we can conclude that the wining case has the lowest NPC and COE. Therefore, scenario (A) was the cheapest configuration for 25 years of the project life cycle among the other scenarios which has 1kw wind turbines with solar energy of 15. 1kw.This configuration has COE of 0.149 USD/kWh and NPC value of 79,803 USD when Grid sales tariff is 20 cents/ KWh.","PeriodicalId":266552,"journal":{"name":"2021 12th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134380533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first-stage uses a single-phase uncontrolled bridge rectifier, and the second-stage is based on a DC-DC half-bridge converter. The presented SMPS output-voltage can be controlled in the range of 10-15V to supply a DC-load to supply up to 250W to the load. power rating up to 250W. A detailed mathematical analysis is presented to show converter performance in (CCM). The effect of inserting the flux reset capacitor between the primary of the high frequency converter and the two power transistors center point are taken in to account in this work. The SMPS is modeled in MATLAB Simulink, and the results are cross-checked against the analytical representation as well as the results of a developed microcontroller-based prototype model, resulting in a complete validation.","PeriodicalId":266552,"journal":{"name":"2021 12th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123305149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can also be driven through low-temperature levels obtained from solar thermal collectors or waste heat. However, it has low relative performance at high ambient or re-cooling temperature as compared to its performance at lower temperatures. Adsorption cooling has a high heat rejection rate from the condensation and adsorption processes; due to this reason, it becomes difficult to maintain a low re-cooling temperature with an air-cooled adsorption system. Therefore, the concept of variable-mode adsorption chiller was proposed to evaluate the chiller output at different re-cooling temperatures. For performance evaluation of the proposed adsorption chiller, transient re-cooling temperature conditions were employed along with four proposed modes; single-stage mode, short and medium recovery modes, and variable mode which represent a combination of these modes. In addition, the cycle stability during shifting from one mode to another was investigated. The modeling results showed that the proposed chiller needs one cooling cycle to reach the steady-state after shifting from single-stage mode to mass recovery mode and three cooling cycles while shifting from mass recovery mode to single-stage mode. Furthermore, the variable-mode chiller has the highest averaged annual cooling capacity compared to other modes at Dubai weather conditions, while the single-stage has the highest averaged annual COP followed by variable, short and medium mass recovery modes respectively at same conditions.","PeriodicalId":266552,"journal":{"name":"2021 12th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127890069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study of the thermal inertia of buildings is a subject of major interest. Thermal insulation can significantly modify the thermal inertia of the building and is one of the solutions to improve the energy efficiency of the envelope. Ceiling insulation is considered the most effective solution given the amount of solar radiation to which this wall is exposed in summer. The aim of this work is to study the one-dimensional heat and mass transfer through a ceiling wall containing micro-encapsulated PCM (phase change concrete) under realistic climatic conditions based on meteorological data. This work relates to a numerical study based on the nodal method to predict the influence of the thickness of the MCP on the temperature of the interior air of a multilayer wall and on the energy consumption to maintain the desired set temperature in a building and the effect of the phase change on the hydric response for the summer period associated with the composite building envelope.","PeriodicalId":266552,"journal":{"name":"2021 12th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133930040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
