Experimental data generally contain measurement noise. In this paper, review on modelling photovoltaic (PV) module/array is established first; next, the combination of the optimization method of maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and Newton Raphson resolution for identifying the five unknown parameters of single diode photovoltaic Module/Array at different types of test conditions is proposed. This predicted method is compared with generalized least square estimator known also as optimization method. It is also compared with popular predictive methods Villalva's and Lambert solution. The proposed method is applied for polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic MSX60 solar module at standard test condition (STC). Two types of comparison are made: first, the dynamic variations of all five parameters values are carried out by graphs and compared in tables with the values found with the other methods (mentioned above); the parameters have converged after up to 150 iterations at STC and the accuracy of estimated parameters is sensitive to the initial parameters of trust region. Secondly, the (I-V) curves are superposed, justifying the accuracy of the proposed method. The comparative errors graphs are also carried out. The results proved the effectiveness of the maximum likelihood estimator, by accuracy parameters of the PV module/array.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128264962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quantitative indices which show the proximity of a system to voltage collapse can help system operators to avoid voltage instability. Application of these indices, however, will need to be examined under dynamically variable conditions in cases such as massive integration of the systems with intermittent renewable generations. This work is an extension of a prior research conducted by the authors in regards to a wide-area loss index (WALI) in a region of interest. The work expands prior research by considering the dynamic models of the system to calculate WALI in real-time. Results of the research show how migration from quasi-steady-state models to dynamic models can impact WALI in real-time.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130781240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mathematical models of the three-phase induction motor are implemented in LabViewblock diagram pages. These models are in form of differential equations and Runge-Kutta 4th order method is implemented to solve the problem. LabViewFpga module alongside with Xilinx 10.1 compiler will generate the Bitfiles, and then Synthesize, Route and place the logic gates to a FPGA chip. NI PCI-7831R is programmed to communicate with real system as a data acquisition card. This communication is implemented in real time environment (RTX) through Ardence RTX as a multithread and multitasking software. The presented real-time platform provides a versatile and flexible simulation tool for investigating dynamic behaviors of induction machine in different cases and can be extended to many other equipment and subsystems of electrical power systems. To validate implemented squirrel cage induction motor model and also its behavior in LabViewsoftware, human machine interface (HMI) is developed in LabViewfront page. A study case is simulated in LabViewreal-time system and MATLAB/Simulink, as two independent software. Results show that motor characteristics (i.e. speed, torque, and etc.) are in the close correspondence compared to MATLAB outputs and consequently LabVIEW model is verified.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132168825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Probabilistic Power Flow was proposed to handle the uncertainties, by introducing random variables with specific probability distributions into calculation. However, the current PPF usually adopts correlation coefficient matrix as its correlation model, which is incomplete for probabilistic modelling. And the deterministic distributions in PPF cannot fully describe the randomness of renewable energy. To address the problem, this paper proposed a fuzzy Copula model for building a more complete and real probability model. And based on the fuzzy model, a whole scheme of Fuzzy Probabilistic Power Flow (FPPF) was established. Case study showed that FPPF can help obtain more possible distribution scenarios of objective random variables, indicating its superior reliability and practicability than conventional PPF.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"290 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133366160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The centralized voltage regulation scheme allows achieving the average voltage regulation during system disturbances. Simultaneously, the accurate power sharing based on the predetermined ratios is achieved between droop controlled converters by means of decentralized controller. The presented approach relies on the communication infrastructure for reaching the mentioned goals. The Cigre B4 test system, which has been developed in the Matlab/ Simulink environment using the SimPowerSystem toolbox, is used to carry out time domain simulations. The results of the simulations demonstrate simultaneous achievement of the mentioned control objectives even in the presence of the large communication delays.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132757698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Solar energy for electricity generation is popular and widespread as it is clean and abundantly found in nature. Partial shading on solar photovoltaics directly affects performance by reducing the power output of the system. As a contribution to further developments in photovoltaic technologies, factors that affect the performance of photovoltaics, under partial shading conditions were studied to improve the technology. Currently available strategies include the use of bypass diodes, Centralized Maximum Power Point Tracking, Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking as solutions. Comparison of these methods were done and observed that Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking gave the optimum solution. A DC-DC converter along with a Maximum Power Point Tracker was interfaced at each PV module which enabled the Maximum Power Point to be tracked. In this paper, a novel algorithm is proposed for optimal configuration of solar panels under partial shading conditions. The simulations were done in Matlab/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"98 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120858605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These parameters are stator yoke thickness, rotor yoke thickness, stator teeth height, and rotor teeth height. Structural mapping is utilized for geometric parameterization thus maintaining the same mesh topology. Finite element analysis is used to obtain the motor static torque profile for a complete electrical cycle using a developed in-house MATLAB tool. The dc-link capacitors and flying capacitor (FC) voltages, and the output current are controlled simultaneously in one control loop by employing the proposed improved FCS-MPC. In addition, the neutral point current is remarkably reduced by utilizing the proposed controller. Moreover, the cost function of the proposed improved FCS-MPC only consists of the neutral point and FC voltages, and the output current. Three decoupled pseudo functions are defined to predict the dc-capacitors and FC voltages by using only the output current. Hence, the proposed control method does not need to measure the dc-link and FC currents to predict the dc-link capacitors and FC voltages. The performance and feasibility of the proposed improved FCS-MPC for 5L-ANPC converter are verified by the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":265297,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128578286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
