With up to 2% of the world’s population living outside of their country of birth, the potential impact of population mobility on health and use of health services of migrant host nations is increasing in its importance. Historically this movement was nomadic, often causing significant conflict with the indigenous population and their displacement or cultural assimilation. Qualitative method was used to this research. Present study draws on interviews, with 7 interviews with UPM student’s emigrants. Results illustrate immigrant status may impact family stress and uncertainty, health outcomes, and educational attainment and may result in increased social isolation for students in immigrant families.","PeriodicalId":264619,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Healthcare International Journal","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124737016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These health services cause a serious concern worldwide. Furthermore, MHS incorporates antenatal care, delivery care and postnatal health service. The aim of this study was to assess Mother-to-Child utilization for MHS at Juba Teaching Hospital (JTH) South Sudan. Methods: A cross-sectional research study was done among 207 women of reproductive age at the time of visits to routine immunization services for receiving free under-five immunization. The interviewers gathered data using the structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics v20. The frequency tables were for describing data and chi-square test and logistic regression were used to determine whether there was statistical association of sociodemographic factors with MHS. Results: Of 207 mothers, 188 (91%) utilized the maternal health. Nearly 20% did not give birth at health facility. Furthermore, there was a significant association of education attainment with place of delivery [OR at 95%CI = 3.06 (1.40 – 6.71), p-value = 0.005] Conclusion: Maternal healthcare services were highly utilized as compared to others in the regions. Moreover, the Level of formal education found to be associated with effective maternity care. An estimated of 20% from women reported delivered at non-health facilities. Therefore, the study recommended specific attention to non-compliance mothers through reinforcement of active health education on safe reproductive and maternal childcare.","PeriodicalId":264619,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Healthcare International Journal","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133370566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pharmacovigilance is a complex process of clinical and scientific discipline that ensures the safety of the medication and avoids adverse drug reactions. Poly-pharmacy, poly-physician, co-morbidities, drug administration errors, use of over the counters (OTCs) drugs, lack of awareness about medications are major cause of the reactions. India joined hand with WHO-UPPSALA in 1997 with the aim to improve the safety of drugs and health of the patients. Despite global concern regarding drug safety there is a lack of understanding and knowledge and reporting of Adversed Drug Reactions (ADRs) among health care professionals. Nurses serve as advocates for the health and safety of patients and may play a crucial role in the pharmacovigilance system & avoiding the mitigating the risks to the patient, promoting public health and determining and maintaining the safety of medicines. Nurses need appropriate knowledge and experience in the field of health care setting including early identification, management and reporting of medicine safety issues and should have a combination of pharmacovigilance training and participating in research studies.","PeriodicalId":264619,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Healthcare International Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116095056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a crosssectional descriptive, qualitative and exploratory study. For data collection, an interview script with open and closed questions was used, which was applied to professional nurses from basic health units in a municipality in Alto Vale do Itajaí. Data analysis took place using the discourse analysis technique. Five nurses were interviewed and data collection ended due to exhaustion of subjects. Data were treated according to three categories of analysis, namely: the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and barriers to access breast cancer screening; adaptive strategies and measures to meet the demands of women’s health and the perception of nurses regarding women’s adherence to breast cancer prevention programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is expected to contribute to the construction of scientific knowledge to support decision-making by authorities in situations of public calamity, being able to analyze the impacts caused in this pandemic, in order to prevent long-term damage to the population in similar situations.","PeriodicalId":264619,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Healthcare International Journal","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115066941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, findings from a study that involved 12 Tongan females in South Auckland, New Zealand reported that Pacific women were less likely to use available family planning services due to cultural taboo and sensitive reasons. This becomes a breach of basic human rights especially as Pacific women (including Tongan) have one of the highest rates of unplanned pregnancy in New Zealand. The purpose of this article is to present the key findings from a study that was undertaken in 2015 as part of the primary author’s Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Auckland. The key findings from the study indicated the complex and multifaceted barriers to accessing family planning due to cultural and social factors including embarrassment, stigma, taboo subjects, anga faka Tonga and inter-generational conflict. Differences in cultural views and expectations regarding pre-marital sex and abstinence between the West and anga faka Tonga points towards the need for improved awareness of family planning services irrespective of marital status. Improving communication between daughters and their mothers (or trusted female figures within the family) and providing culturally safe services were identified as key strategies to improving access to family planning services.","PeriodicalId":264619,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Healthcare International Journal","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126606164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
