Despite the fact that the methods and technologies of propaganda in its classic version are described in detail, in recent decades, the methods of propaganda influence have become more disguised and sophisticated: from the creation of bots in social networks to the fabrication of images and newspaper covers. In such circumstances, it is extremely difficult to distinguish between true and false content, so the problem of selecting criteria for propaganda content is of particular importance today.The aim of the study is to identify the features of propaganda content in a digital society. The objectives of the research project include: the definition of “propaganda content” concept, the forms of its expression, the search for criteria to distinguish propaganda content from other types of information dissemination in social networks.The open materials of such programs as Hamilton 68, Digital Sherlocks, as well as the research of Computational Propaganda Worldwide conducted in Oxford were taken as an object. It is because of these and similar projects that the term “computer propaganda” is firmly entrenched in the scientific lexicon.The research methodology is based on the works of J. Bolsover, F. Howard, and a number of other foreign and domestic authors, indicating the following formats as components of promotional content in online communities: cyberattacks, bot farms, automatic distribution of posts on social networks, theft of data and disinformation. They are usually distributed simultaneously to maximize the coverage of the same information.The main methods of the study were case studies and content analysis. With their help, the case that caused social tension and long-term negative consequences (pension reform of 2018 in Russia) is considered. The analysis of the text format of information about this case, posted on social networks Facebook and Twitter, led to a number of conclusions: the methods used to identify propaganda content, require further serious study. The method of content analysis widely used for this purpose and the relatively recent method of intent analysis, due to the lack of the necessary methodology, are not always able to determine the availability of methods of propaganda influence.The results of the study allow us to state: computer propaganda in the modern world is very effective, including free or very inexpensive distribution. Moreover, the speed and the maximum number of users outreach by propaganda content become major issues. Today, social networks are a real arena of struggle, and the arsenal of propaganda means of influence is increasing exponentially. In these circumstances, the development of propaganda content identification methods can serve as a guarantor of success in the fight. This aspect is especially important in the long term, as in this way you can beat the competition and build the right communication strategy.","PeriodicalId":264308,"journal":{"name":"2019 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Workshop (ComSDS)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114382477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the disintegration of the USSR, the paths of education development in former soviet republics divided. However, there are still many similarities due to the inter-government cooperation and integration projects such as the Eurasia Economic Union. The study aims to understand how PR-education in Russia and Kazakhstan is developing. In particular, the study compares BA and MA education programs comparing courses in common and not in common. This project uses both quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, but is rooted in a qualitative epistemological position that recognizes the importance of locating the research within a particular social, cultural, and historical context. The authors place an emphasis on the competences in the sphere of digital public relations, assuming that skills in information technologies and digital literacy are crucial for success in the future. In order to understand dynamics of PR-education development, the authors compare statistics on student submission to the institutions of the higher education both in Russia and Kazakhstan. The numbers show that there is a big demand in PR-education in terms of students submitted and in terms of competition. In order to indicate what digital skills is needed a survey method is applied. The authors have conducted a survey with 60 BA and MA students. The survey shows that students consider their decision to become a PR-specialists as ‘strategically right’, but the opinion on digital literacy was controversial.","PeriodicalId":264308,"journal":{"name":"2019 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Workshop (ComSDS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130323209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the digitalization and convergence of information and communication processes. These changes have an impact on the technology of interaction between an enterprise and its stakeholders. In the event of a crisis, qualitatively built interaction is particularly important. The key group of stakeholders is the company’s employees. Too many organizations build the management system based on the belief that it is the top managers and managers that have a strong influence on the «company/employee» interaction. However, it is not so. The task of management is to increase employee engagement. The employees involved want their organization to succeed, because they feel that they are connected emotionally, socially and even spiritually, sharing its mission and goals. The modern management considers personnel as the most important and valuable resource used to produce goods and services, which were to be treated correspondingly. The article covers the analysis of the relationship between employee engagement and company’s business results. The theoretical basis of the article are the views of Ch. Handy, A. Giddens, J. Fleming, J. Asplund, J.K. Harter, M. Buckingham, C. Coffman, Lev B. and others who made contribution to the employee engagement literature. The authors show that the employees are the key resource in resolving a crisis. The ability of the company’s management to demonstrate to employees the understanding of the concerns about their destinies and the ability to mobilize staff to overcome difficulties jointly play an important role in a situation of uncertainty. The article emphasis is put on the important employee engagement instruments as employer brand and internal PR.","PeriodicalId":264308,"journal":{"name":"2019 Communication Strategies in Digital Society Workshop (ComSDS)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123714191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
