The elites comprised of politicians, State policy technocrats, community leaders including a Traditional Chief; the group of elites also included representatives from all three major religions in Ghana: African traditional religions, Christianity and Islam. The results of the study indicated both positive and negative impacts of RH policies on the improvement of the economic welfare of individuals and small owner businesses. A major finding was the role of awareness in the acceptability of RH policies related to the birth control (BC) methods and products and contraceptives. The influence of the affordability of BC products and contraceptives was a common point of agreement of the ten elite people. The limited numbers of proper family planning clinics and specialist clinics in Ghana were seen to be a hindrance towards the acceptance of RH policies related to the use of BC products and contraceptives. The elites agreed that the Ghanaian society was a conservative one and this presented a general difficulty concerning the discussion of family planning and sexual matters. While there was a consensus on the role of awareness in increasing the acceptance and use of BC products and contraceptives, there was some disagreement of the proper role of non-governmental organizations, including religious organizations, in creating awareness of BC products and contraceptives in the community.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127203048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Developing perennial crops is strength of our Vietnam's agriculture to serve the requirements of raw materials for the processing industry and for export. During the 36 years of renovation (1995 - 2021), perennial crop production has continuously developed comprehensively, growing rapidly both in terms of area expansion and intensive farming to increase productivity and output. In recent years, the output of most perennial crops has increased sharply, especially those associated with export such as coffee, rubber, tea, cashew, and pepper. Policymakers and many researchers in Vietnam seem to be \"crazy\" for the GDP index, so everything seems to be compared with GDP; if an industry's share in GDP is low, it doesn't seem these sectors important enough! This study used input-output analysis method to show the importance of perennial crops to the Vietnamese economy through the multiplier links between industries (inter-industrial) and the economy's supply-demand relationship.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122254071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the data of the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report and principal component analysis, we constructs a 14 index system to measure trade facilitation. Based on the export data from 2011 to 2019, the extended gravity model is used to estimate the relationship between trade facilitation and the depth and breadth of China's agricultural exports. The study shows that improving the trade facilitation of RCEP partners can significantly enhance the depth of China's agricultural exports. Specifically, the trade openness, e-commerce and financial environment of importing countries have a significant positive impact on the depth and breadth of exports. Another important finding is that China's trade facilitation has played a more active role in the depth and breadth of exports. Its infrastructure quality, e-commerce and financial environment can greatly promote China's agricultural exports.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131203244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Overseas M&A not only garners the advanced technology from overseas companies, but also improves the corporate governance of the parent company. With the data of Chinese listed companies from 2003 to 2019, this paper empirically examines how overseas M&A of listed companies influences the performance sensitivity of CEO turnover, and the PSM method and placebo tests are adopted to discuss the endogeneity. Finally, we proceed the heterogeneity tests by the nature of property rights, CEO power and the market competitiveness of product, respectively. The empirical results show that overseas M&A of Chinese listed companies will significantly improve the performance sensitivity of CEO turnover, and the phenomenon is more significant in SOEs and companies with lower management shareholding ratio, older CEO age, longer tenure of CEO, and lower product market competition. The conclusion of this paper not only offers a unique theoretical perspective for China's listed companies to improve their governance efficiency through overseas M&A, but also provides policy references for improving China's overseas M&A behavior in practice.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122945797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, countries have essential asymmetries regarding the disease spread dynamics and the respective mortality rates. In addition to containment strategies and boosting growth and economic development in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, society calls for solutions that allow the development of vaccines, treatments for the disease, and especially, indicators or early warnings that anticipate the evolution of new infections and deaths. This research aims to track the total deaths caused by COVID-19 in the most affected countries by the pandemics after the approval, distribution, and implementation of vaccines from 2021. We proposed an Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) specification as a first adjustment. Subsequently, we estimate the conditional variance of total deaths from an Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (EGARCH). Finally, we compute a rolling density backtesting within a 7-day rolling window to demonstrate the robustness estimation for COVID-19 mortality. The work's main contribution lies in exhibiting a tracking indicator for volatility and COVID-19 direction, including a weekly window to observe its evolution.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"65 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120939635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Economic growth takes different forms following the varying economic theories, and it's mostly defined as achieving increase in average share of individual from the real gross national income at certain time period. One of the most frequently used indexes to measure economic growth is: Measuring economic growth based on the expected – no the real – income, especially in countries that possess rich resources. These children have been exposed to many types of pressure which influence behavior outcomes. This study aims to investigate the street children’s socioeconomic profiles and examine the social-psychological influence of parents, peers and the public on the children’s behavior. A systematic sampling technique was used to select 12 markets in Khartoum state. 350 street children from the 12 markets volunteered for the face-to-face interview administered questionnaire. The study found that parents stressors and peers stressors significantly influence the children to perform maladaptive behavior. However, the public did not have any significant effect on children’s maladaptive behavior. The study suggests intervention programs should be applied to stop children from ending up on the streets by providing families with a basic income to guarantee children's welfare, security and sense of family life. To stop children from going back to the streets, a free education policy, fee waivers and free meals for poor children are recommended.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130518174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The role of financial markets for economic growth has been the subject of many scientific studies; most of them concluded that a well-developed financial system should improve the efficiency of financing decisions, favouring a better allocation of resources and thereby economic growth. The financial crisis that started in the summer of 2007 is still testing the strength of the global economic system. It started in the financial sector, but is now having an important impact on the real economy. The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between a country’s financial market development and its competitiveness in particular in times of crisis, with the use of a series of econometric models. We find evidence that financial market development is affected (with the anticipated sign of impact) by the Global Competitiveness Index, the GDP per capita and the (un)employment level of a country. It is also related (with an unexpected direction of impact) with the foreign market size and exports, as well as infrastructure. Our findings can be used by the policymakers of countries which wish to improve their competitiveness so as to steer the determining variables in the desired directions and approach their desired competitiveness levels.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124451969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the works in the way which suppose a linear relationship between the two variables, we estimate a panel with change of the modes to characterize the impact of the size of the Central Government on corruption, in the countries of the economic community and monetary of Central Africa (EMCCA). The results show that there is a non-linear relationship between these two variables. Indeed, a strong involvement of the Government in economic activity results in a significant increase in corruption when the Government exceeds a size of 13.5508% of the GDP.","PeriodicalId":264194,"journal":{"name":"Research in World Economy","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126237336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
