By investing in formal learning, organizations need to assess whether individuals are transferring what they have learned through behavioral changes at work. However, they don’t know how to do so, leading to the problem or gap of learning transfer. In addition, there is a need to better define and operationalize the construct learning transfer and present the differences between transfer as use and as efficiency. Although, there is an increase number of academic research on learning transfer, there is a scarcity of studies including long-term courses offered by higher education institutions. In this study we developed and tested a comprehensive model of transfer of learning in a context of postgraduate management programmes. Based on the taxonomy of use proposed by Yelon et al. (2014), we operationalized the dependent variable transfer as use as a second order latent variable with five dimensions. The model also includes five independent variables: transfer design, critical reflection, organizational cynicism, job autonomy and learning culture. We tested the hypotheses with a sample of 424 students and graduates of postgraduate management programmes in Brazil. Data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and multivariate techniques, including correlations, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for hypothesis testing. The results confirmed three of the five hypotheses that predicted direct relationships with the dependent variable: critical reflection, transfer design and learning culture.","PeriodicalId":263215,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Management Advances in the 21st Century 2020","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131018304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most studies compare traditional and active methods. The shift between the lecture centered to the student center methods, however, does not occur lightly. Our purpose is to describe points of attention when applying active methodologies to business under graduation students. We carry two intrinsic case studies that when read may improve teachers and facilitators to change their strategy in the classroom. We describe two different active methodologies of teaching/learning the Flipped Classroom and an Integrated Leadership Program. We found out that the context and history of students with the methodology is a key point for its acceptance. Also, the preparation of the class and the transparency with the methodology are essential for its functionality.","PeriodicalId":263215,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Management Advances in the 21st Century 2020","volume":"330 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122746216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the proposed objective, an exploratory and qualitative research was conducted through a case study in a professional master's degree course in Administration in the city of São Paulo. The collected data were analyzed using the content analysis technique. As main results, it was emphasized that infrastructure, faculty, mentoring, partnerships and exchange of knowledge and ideas among students, as well as support and explanation of contents related to financial aspects and risk analysis, contribute positively, not only in the creation of a new business, but in the establishment of a better structured company with strategic planning based on consistent analysis and methodologies.","PeriodicalId":263215,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Management Advances in the 21st Century 2020","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123613711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resistance of students in face-to-face courses to the proposition of distance learning units naturally occurs because students chose to study in the traditional mode. However, Brazilian law has encouraged the inclusion of distance learning units in face-to-face courses, allowing up to 40% of the workload to be integrated at a distance. The methodology is exploratory from the perspective of the survey of the Brazilian legislation that supports the expansion of the integration of the workload taught at a distance in face-to-face courses and also quantitative considering the results of a instrument, measured on the Likert scale, applied to 100 students in face-to-face courses at three different Universities. In the management area, in Higher Education Institutions - HEI with administrative characteristics and different levels of distance content insertion. The work shows that students have less resistance to distance learning, when the HEI have already consolidated the inclusion of distance learning in traditional courses. Students also point to a scenario in which distance learning can offer benefits to their education and learning. The work to verify that depending on the phase or level of insertion of DL in the Institutions, student resistance may be reduced and the benefits may be better realized.","PeriodicalId":263215,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Management Advances in the 21st Century 2020","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130825663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theory defines entrepreneurship as an individual's ability to seize or create opportunities, involving time and financial investment risks, but can also be considered as a strategic action of the individual in a particular activity, whether it is its own business or as a project leader. The advancement and development of technology contributes to the digital empowerment of the individual, regardless of gender, but access and use is required. To reach the objective of this research, the methodology used includes a survey through in-depth interview and questionnaire with quantitative approach. An interview was conducted with the company founder Click Secretária and the applied questionnaire obtained 128 answers. The results propose a deductive analysis for the understanding of entrepreneurship as a strategic action and the use of technology as digital empowerment in the executive secretariat area.","PeriodicalId":263215,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Management Advances in the 21st Century 2020","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116708332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
