This is not only applicable in transport industry, but also in aviation, heavy engineering industries etc. In the present work we have applied three objective methods for assessment of fatigue in human operator. These methods are based on Auditory Vigilance test (AVT) and Visual Response Test (VRT), facial image based measurement of fatigue, and Electroencephalographic (EEG) signal analysis. Driver inattentiveness has been identified as one of the principal causes of accidents on road. It is very difficult to monitor driver inattentiveness using physiological signals like heart rate, brain waves because of their intrusive nature. In this paper an image based non-intrusive method has been stated to detect driver inattentiveness in advance. Using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) face is detected in an image and then using PCA again, eye is detected from the face image. A comparison with Pattern/Template based method for eye detection has been presented. Once eye is detected the PCA based eye detection results are employed to categorize the eyes as “Attentive” or “Inattentive” based on weight vectors. Again using eye closure rating (PERCLOS) on this “inattentive” eye category inattentiveness is quantified and above a certain PERCLOS threshold an alarm sound is generated to indicate driver inattentiveness. Because of the non-stationary nature, the EEG signals do not exhibit unique characteristics in the frequency domain. Therefore, Time- Frequency transformations have been suggested to extract the common features for a particular mental task performed by different subjects. The Short-Time-Fourier-Transform (STFT) and Wigner-Ville type of Time-Frequency Kernels have been chosen for transforming the input data space into the feature space. Experimental results show that SVM classifiers using such feature vectors are very effective for classification of the EEG signals. The data obtained from ten different subjects each performing three different mental tasks, have been used for testing this method. The major contribution of this paper is in testing the different Time-Frequency Kernels belonging to Cohen's class. Devanagari is an Indian script that is used for several major languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi & Nepali and is spoken as well as written by more than 500 million people. Unconstrained Devanagari writing is more complex than English cursive due to the possible variations in the order number, direction and shape of constituent strokes. The Devanagari alphabet is split into 13 vowels & 36 consonants. A manual study of various characters was done and 42 stroke classes were created. A stroke based recognition approach has been designed where strokes are recognized using Hidden Markov Models (HMM). One HMM is constructed for each stroke class. A second stage of classification has been designed and is used for recognition of characters using stroke classification results along with look up tables. But this age has become an era where talents are considered as the matter of fact, in spite of their physical weakness. Here is a newfangled technology, through which a robot imitates human handwriting and acts as a proxy during strenuous circumstances. What the robot does is that, it acts according to the voice commands imposed on it, thereby fulfilling the physical ailment of the needy. Writing is brought by feeding a particular style in the form of images, which is stored as fonts in its memory. This not only assists disabled persons, but also supports people who need a proxy for their hand writing. When a particular font is fed, it writes what was dictated, thereby, acting as a human hand. A distinctive property of molecular motors is their ability to convert energy from ATP upon hydrolysis. These motors are able to bind and move along cytoskeletal filaments. The protein analysis performed revealed the conserved regions and the active sites of these proteins which can be used for ligand designing for effectively targeting of the drugs. Stability, aliphatic index, hydropathy index and half life of these proteins were also calculated. From the computational modeling and simulation studies, interaction potential energy of each of the motor proteins has been computed. The interaction potential energy and Vander Waals energy were found to be negative for all the motor proteins. The analysis described in this paper points out several properties of the molecular motors and thus provides information on roles of these chemicals in various body disorders. Effects of the coarticulation in an utterance have to be analyzed for developing a triphone-based speech recognition system, text-to-speech (TTS) system, etc. The conventional Fourier transform-based spectrogram fails to capture the formant transitions between two adjacent phonemes. Further, depending on the size of the analysis window, either horizontal or vertical striations are observed, which affects the clarity of the spectrogram. In this work, to overcome these problems, a linear prediction-based (a model-based) spectrogram is suggested and implemented. To further improve the clarity and to make the formant trajectories more prominent, the poles of the LP analysis are focussed and a modified LP-based spectrogram is derived. The resultant pole-focussed LP-based spectrogram is found to be a better candidate for analyzing the coarticulation effects. This consist of a number of advanced functionalities which is firstly hard to learn for a beginner and secondly, are of little to no use for the common people like users in rural India. The root directory oriented perspective of the Linux file-system is also a reason for users to stick with the vulnerable and costly but simple Windows operating system. This paper looks into the mentioned segment of common computer users and describes an operating system named “Sahaj Linux” which provides an intuitive and minimalist approach to common day-to-day tasks of a general computer user coupled with the flexibility and power of a Linux system. Special attention is paid on a new approach for the File Browser which is however one of the central and most important applications of “Sahaj Linux”. The File Browser is specially designed to resemble the common mental model of the directory tree structure among users for increased performance in terms of reduced number of clicks in regular use.
