The emotions used in this study are anger, compassion, disgust, fear, happy, neutral, sarcastic and surprise. LP residual is derived by inverse filtering of the speech signal, and the process is known as LP analysis. LP residual mainly contains higher order relations among the samples. For capturing the emotion specific information from these higher order relations, autoassociative neural network (AANN) and Gaussian mixture models (GMM) are used. The decrease in the error during training phase of the AANN's and the emotion recognition performance of the models, demonstrate that the excitation source component of speech contains emotion-specific information and is indeed being captured by the AANN and GMM models. IITKGP-Simulated Emotion Speech Corpus (IITKGP-SESC) is used as a database, for characterization and classification of emotions. An ITS authoring system allows teachers to create different modules of an intelligent tutoring system. In this paper, we present an ITS authoring system that allows teachers with very less computer skill to author most important modules of an ITS with minimum efforts. The salient features of the system include authoring multilingual documents, defining teaching strategies using fuzzy rules, representing student models through fuzzy state transition automata. The authoring system was used by the teachers and evaluated. An onboard program for the fuel gauging system is developed using a computational model resulting in to an optimal estimate of fuel gauging system. Computational modeling of fuel gauging system is realized by using least square estimation numerical method with Microcontroller based Electronic unit. Therefore, it is needed to analyze the alterations that occur during CNV by quantification of the changing parameters. In CNV, the Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) layer undergoes many changes and could be recorded by Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The highly reflective band, corresponding to the RPE and choriocapillaries visible in an OCT image, shows a fusiform thickening, loss of linearity, and disruption in CNV due to proliferation of new abnormal blood vessels there. This study characterizes the CNV related changes in the RPE layer. Initially by image processing, the RPE layer is segmented out and quantification of the features related to the mentioned changes is done through computing the Euler number, thickness standard deviation, mean thickness, maximum thickness and area of the RPE layer. TCP throughput, however, degrades over wireless links. Over such wireless links, the performance achieved by TCP can be improved through the use of cross-layer algorithms. In this paper, a novel cross-layer approach (Link Layer CLAMP - TCP [L2CLAMP-TCP]) is proposed, which avoids TCP Acknowledgement (ACK) packet transmission over the wireless channel, thereby saving time which can be utilized by the nodes for data packet delivery. The ACK instead is generated by the base station. The congestion measure is also calculated at the base station based on which the receiver advertised window (AWND) is calculated. Most characteristic feature of this protein is its ability to form supramolecular aggregates in extracellular space. Collagen is widely used for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications owing to its cell attachment capabilities, excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability and weak antigenicity. Application of collagen is a consequence of the ability of collagen to self-assemble in vitro into various strong structures. However, applicability is limited due to its high cost and probability of disease transmission from the current sources. Fish processing wastes could be promising cost effective collagen sources through recycling of those wastes. In the present study, collagen was isolated from scales of Labeo rohita (Rohu) and Catla catla (Catla) through demineralization followed by extraction using dilute acetic acid. The isolated protein was characterized by different physico-chemical techniques like FTIR, SDS-PAGE and CD spectroscopy. Thermal behavior of isolated collagen was evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis. The promising feature of obtained collagen is its close denaturation temperature to mammalian collagen, which significantly boosts its applicability. It happens as a consequence of spinal cord injuries, strokes, cerebral palsies and so forth. Several attempts from the biomedical engineering perspective have been made to revive such motor losses. Functional electrical stimulation is one of the much talked methods and has been widely used in restoring motor function of the limbs to an extent. This study proposes a design of a portable device for transcutaneous stimulation of small muscles of hand.
