Time slot priority is introduced as the criteria of channel assignment. New user will be assigned in the time slot which has the highest priority. The time slot priority is updated dynamically according to our proposed algorithm at the node B. The performance of the algorithm is compared together with other traditional algorithms under both homogeneous and hot spot traffic loading via computer simulation. The results show that the ITP&SUI-based channel assignment algorithm always outcomes the traditional algorithm in both downlink and uplink. The primary benefit of ITP&SUI-based channel assignment algorithm in the TDD-CDMA cellular system, however, lies in improving the system performance and saving the power consumption of UE, especially under hot spot traffic.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129602964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Party is a new routing protocol intended to be applied in environments with large number of nodes where the scalability of the routing protocol plays an important role. Party's routing is unique and only depends on the current node's neighborhood. Routing tables are created on the basis of the first hop neighborhood only. We will show the protocol performance with a large number of nodes in the network, and compare it to the legacy ad hoc routing protocols. Results show a large improvement in terms of overhead and throughput.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128300733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Differentiating from the classical NUM framework which usually takes the consumed energy as constraints. Our utility model regards consumed energy as one of the components of measure of the utility values, which indicates the tradeoff of source rates and consumed energy, it is a more accurate utility model for abstracting the energy characteristics for data gathering and transmission in WSNs. Due to the coupled energy utility, our optimization problem is not separable. Despite the difficulty, we present a systematic approach to decouple our NUM problem with coupled utilities by introducing into the slack variables and using dual decomposition techniques, and obtain a distributed algorithm for solving this problem. The proposed algorithm can converge to the Pareto optimal tradeoff between rates and energy for all users.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128995747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We construct groups within the MCN, where each group comprises of a source node, a destination node, their intermediate relay nodes and assign a correlated PN sequence to each such group. Within a particular group, a single carrier is assigned to each intermediate hop. The sub carriers assigned to the intermediate hops in a given group are mutually orthogonal. Hence the proposed OFDM is FDMA in nature. The sub carriers and transmit power levels to the relay nodes are assigned in such a way as to maximize the end-to-end throughput. The end-to-end throughput is formulated by assuming a Rayleigh flat fading channel between nodes. We present a method to reuse the PN codes assigned to the groups in a particular cell. We also introduce a novel architecture for MCN. Simulation results show that the proposed access mechanism achieves better end-to-end throughput and bit error rate (BER) performance as compared to standard access mechanisms like CDMA and OFDM-FDMA. Furthermore the proposed access mechanism has considerably higher BER performance in the presence of multiple transmit sources.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129250253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new adaptive digital predistorter based on the use of PSO (particle swarm optimization) algorithm is developed and applied in an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission scheme, such as a digital video broadcasting system. OFDM transmission is an efficient way to deal with multipath, being its implementation less complex than traditional equalizers, however, it is also very sensitive to nonlinear distortions due to its greatly variable envelope. The performance of this method has been verified by means of simulation using an amplifier characterized by a level-dependent complex gain using a memoryless model for different input power levels. In addition, the influence of some PSO parameters (the number of particles) on convergence is studied.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130623611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce computational complexity and the decoding latency, a 3-stage receiver algorithm is proposed. The MIMO receiver consists of multi-dimensional detection, partial interference cancellation and the weighted zero-forcing equalization, where the transmit antennae are divided into two group. The first group is encoded by a lower rate code and multi-dimensional search algorithm is used for demodulation and decoding, while the second group is encoded by higher rate code and weighted zero-forcing equalization is used. Once the first group is decoded successfully, they are cancelled out from the received vector for the decoding of the second group. The complexity and the error rate performance are investigated and compared with a well-known sphere decoding algorithm.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"32 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123204794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The IEEE 802.16e standard systems can be considered potential candidates for these applications due to their attractive features, like high data rate, mobility support, etc. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of an 802.16e system with the OFDMA air interface in two non-stationary vehicle to vehicle (V2V) channels: an open area high traffic density (OHT) channel and an urban (UOC) channel. We first introduce the non-stationary V2V channel models developed from empirical data. Then we provide a brief overview of 802.16e and introduce three channel estimation schemes that apply to different scenarios. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the 802.16e system over the proposed non-stationary V2V channel models. We show that the proposed channel estimation methods provide a good tradeoff between channel estimation accuracy and computational complexity. We also illustrate that system performance in non-stationary channels is more volatile than in stationary channels.","PeriodicalId":261917,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123647344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
