However, the lack of knowledge on how to implement and use agile methods correctly results in an empirical adoption of them, most of the time without getting the expected results like inefficient software development. This paper presents a proposal to evaluate agile methods, specifically Scrum. The method is addressed to very small organizations (VSEs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition, the method includes a tool for its implementation that allows evaluating organizations and offering the required information to implement Scrum and increase the organization's maturity using Scrum.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132449720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They describe small system parts oriented to the user and guide developers' daily work. Most users use them in combination with Scrum, but despite their popularity, user stories are often too crude, so misunderstandings or dependencies remain unpredictable. Moreover, research efforts on them are limited since there is no scientific evidence on the effectiveness and validation of user stories. In turn, The International IT Research Firm Standish Group mentions incomplete agile requirements as their main impediment to success. This ongoing research proposes the semantic relationship assessment of an ontology for evaluating the user story's quality. In addition, the authors conducted a qualitative validation of the relationships of the ontology with Software Engineering practitioners. This work's result will help propose an ontology to assess the quality of a user story, and it will guide development teams during the creation, analysis, and development of user stories.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126880155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because urban mobility has increased due to factors such as the increase in population density, the increase in vehicles or traffic incidents. Incidents represent the set of obstacles that modify the behavior of the traffic flow. The monitoring of traffic incidents in real time through map applications allows the data to be analyzed and graphically visualized taking into account its location and the time in which these data were generated. This makes it possible to identify, for example, the days and times with the highest number of incidents in a specific city area. In this research work we present a structured method to monitor incidents in real time. A case study was carried out in which the proposed method was used for a one-week monitoring of a main avenue in Mexico City with the objective of analyzing the way in which incidents modify the vehicular flow. This type of study allows the analysis of urban vehicular mobility for decision-making in road infrastructures.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125860506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Once developers are assigned a programming task or change request, they need to complete it as fast as possible without increasing the existing code's overall complexity. Therefore, they need to know the dependencies of software components before applying any code changes. As the code matures, it becomes more difficult to detect indirect coupling relationships among the components, which is a serious problem for project managers. Such hidden relationships may cause further complexity in the system, poor estimation of the effort, and degradation of the code quality. The purpose of this research is to propose a suite of metrics that are grounded on measurement theory and that enhance the scope, strength, and usefulness of accepted software metrics by taking advantage of the hidden relationships among software components. The following research questions guided our work: (RQ1) How to measure software complexity using indirect coupling to take advantage of weighted differences between methods?, and (RQ2) How could indirect coupling metrics help to assist programmers during maintenance tasks? This rigorously introduced suite exhibit well-known desirable metrics properties. Furthermore, it also can be used as an aid in project management and maintenance tasks. The theoretically rigorous enhancement of software metrics by fine-graining them and gathering the hidden relationships among components proved to provide additional significant insight that can benefit both project managers and developers in their job.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128952910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this has also led to an increased number of malware attacks targeting Android. To counter this, various anti-malware systems and techniques are available nowadays that offer strong protection to users. The existence and deployment of malware detection models, such as antiviruses, are still made futile by the attackers modifying the code and creating more malware that evades the capability of the detection tools. This presents a larger threat to users' sensitive data by the malware, and that could further lead to data manipulation. This paper aims to contribute to achieving a more secure software engineering experience for Android users by proposing a lightweight tool that enables users to detect such malware more easily and, in turn, protect their overall data security and privacy. The permissions sought by the applications for their functionality are used in this paper to identify and detect such Android malware. A cluster-classification machine learning technique, known as Km-SVM, is used to analyze the application permissions. Our experimental results have shown that the proposed tool can successfully identify Android malware before the user installs it, warning them accordingly in order to avoid data compromise.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129640640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Almost every sector has established itself on a digital platform. Such a digital platform typically requires a website and a database that contains and stores a large amount of user data. However, the over resilience on websites also opens the gates for malicious attackers to try compromising those websites and get access to their information, such as user credentials. As per the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), SQL injection is one of the top-rated vulnerabilities currently faced by the software development community. SQL injection involves manipulating queries made to databases and executing malicious operations on them; this allows, among other actions, retrieving sensitive information. Due to its relevance, various approaches have been proposed to better protect user information from potential attackers. Although data security has certainly increased thanks to those efforts, there are still loopholes that an attacker might exploit. This paper proposes a hybrid approach using hashing, encryption, and image steganography to improve the security of user credentials stored in databases. Our work aims to help developers to integrate best practices in password security as part of the software development life cycle to prevent data breaches by ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information. The proposed approach has been experimentally evaluated, obtaining good results which demonstrate its feasibility.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128491656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
