In any case, enterprises should look for to assure data quality from earlier stages on information system development. This paper proposes to incorporate mechanisms into a software development methodology, to integrate user's DQ requirements aimed at assuring the data quality from the beginning of development. It brings a framework consisting of well-defined processes, activities, and tasks, which would be incorporated in an existent software development methodology, as METRICA V3; and therefore, to assure software product data quality created according to this methodology. The proposal presented, is a guideline, and it can be extended and applied to other development methodologies like Unified Development Process.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116784169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the last few years, there has been an increasing interest in the research and development of bots designed to boost the software development process. Consequently, there has been a recent surge in published studies regarding bots in the software development process. Our aim is to present the state of the art of bots for software development. We detail uses, benefits, challenges, and intelligence levels of bots involved in software development reported in academic papers. In this work, we conducted a Systematic Mapping Study (SMS). From the primary studies, we have identified nine activities related to the software development phases in which bots are used, seven benefits, and seven challenges in using bots for software development. The most popular activities for bot applications in software development, in descending order, are project management, code analysis, debugging, and project onboarding. The main benefits are generating bug fixes, providing helpful information, and automating tasks. Alongside the benefits, the primary drawbacks were low effectiveness of fixes, poor bot performance in a task, and a dependency on third-party technologies. We seek to help developers learn about bots for their use in future projects, and investigators identify future research topics through this SMS.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133992148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current students are going to live this new era in the labor market; it is needed to know if they are getting ready for this scenario. This paper presents an exploratory study based on a survey to assess how developers in industry and students in the academy experienced their wellbeing expressed in emotions during the pandemic, as well as how they practiced the soft skills involved in software development. The results of developers are considered as basis to assess how students are prepared for this context. The descriptive study has shown that developers experienced more positive emotions, while students had a mix of positive and negative emotions. In terms of soft skills, developers and students showed closer levels of practice, however students should reinforce some skills.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133338567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many companies, especially in the software development area, sent their employees to work from home in order to contain the spread of the virus. Nowadays, after two years of the pandemic, the companies introduce new regulations concerning the work organization for their employees. We notice a high variety of work organization types in practice, like work from home, work from anywhere, onsite work or mixed approaches. While some organizations integrated approaches like work from anywhere, others specify rules for part-time organizations onsite and work from home. This situation leads to new challenges for agile software development teams, as the agile practices in use are originally designed for onsite work and focusing on social aspects like collaboration. Also, the adaptions of specific agile practices due to the remote work during Covid-19 by the teams may do not cover the new circumstances of hybrid (distributed) work settings, while some team members work from home, others onsite in the office. Method: We conducted a quantitative survey in two agile software development teams in one company operating in a work from anywhere setting. Results: The results of this study show that the team members prefer to work remotely in future. However, some team members also want to work one or two days per week onsite in the office. This heterogeneous preferences of the workplace will lead to hybrid work organization and thus, to new challenges and advantages for agile software development team members. Conclusion: Based on our results, we discuss the needs of agile software development teams working in hybrid settings concerning equipment in the office, new software tools supporting the agile approach in use and the adaption of agile practices. Furthermore, we provide practical implications related to the need for sustainable flexibility on employee side concerning selecting the workplace.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"15 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133754539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although books represent signs on paper, there is no better learning than when the sign is recorded on video, and the movement and joints can be visualized in three dimensions. There are video repositories on the internet to search for signs or phrases; however, this information is disjointed, or the sites specialized in these topics have very few videos; in both cases, the search for signs and learning LSM becomes complicated. For this situation, a Collaborative Web System is proposed that allows searching for signs with text inputs and finding representative videos of the search. In this way, the research supports people in establishing communication with deaf people. Furthermore, the site is collaborative, as deaf and non-deaf people can collaborate by adding their knowledge about LSM. The testing stage simulated a user ranking and content validation algorithm. This simulation allowed adjustments to the algorithms before releasing the application to real users. With this proposal, we intend to generate a repository of audiovisual content that allows users to exploit other aspects of communication, such as the conversion of videos with signs to text or sound, which can be in recorded videos or real-time through mobile devices.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133376745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

UML is considered a de facto standard for software modeling and is widely accepted in education and industry. However, UML is sometimes misused due to discrepancies between different models. Further, most popular modeling tools used in academic environments have numerous weaknesses, including being overly complex, which could result in a cognitive overload. We proposed a hybrid method named Scrumconix as a base to teach software engineering. This method includes the robustness diagram that closes the gap between use case specification and detailed design and code, which is helpful for developers and particularly for students. We also developed a modeler (called Robix) to support and ease the learning of this diagram by applying the diagram rules. We evaluated the Robix modeler with ungraduated students, and we obtained that those who used the Robix modeler during a learning phase had significantly fewer errors in an academic evaluation at applying the diagram rules and using its stereotypes than those who did not use our modeler. Concerning usability and usefulness perception, the Robix modeler had high rates of both factors by the participants. These results encourage us to conduct another study with a larger sample to corroborate the obtained results and corroborate whether the modeler also eases the representation of use case flow in the robustness diagram.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134144832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results obtained include: 1) estimation of the water prescription per crop field inside an irrigation district, and 2) the distribution of hidric resource according to the daily water amount available. These results are presented both quantitatively and visually qualitative with the generation of digital maps and software user interface. The potential benefit of Cropland and Water distribution Simulator - CLAWS is that farmers could reduce costs related to irrigation scheduling without affecting the environment and their crops, also avoiding applications of excessive or insufficient irrigation rates.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127142926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This gives rise to new architectural language proposals to address different microservice-specific challenges. This diversity of architectural languages means that there is still no predominant architectural language. This mapping study aims to identify the architectural languages used in a microservices architecture by following a systematic methodology that covers the years from 2015 to 2021, and a research protocol was created to allow the study's reproducibility. We identified and analyzed studies that answered the research questions and applied data extraction guidelines and thematic synthesis to provide an overview of the microservices architectural languages. We found a total of 69 primary studies which propose architectural languages that were grouped in challenges of microservices architecture they address and architectural and design characteristics, which used base languages such as UML, BPMN, graphs, and others. Lastly, our findings show that there are several options to model microservice systems according to the challenges of this architectural style that they address.","PeriodicalId":260581,"journal":{"name":"2022 10th International Conference in Software Engineering Research and Innovation (CONISOFT)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121548993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
