Piela","doi":"10.24917/9788380846258.9","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24917/9788380846258.9","url":null,"abstract":"Jocular archaisms and anachronisms in the dictionaries of the modern Polish language Summary The basic purpose of this article is to provide a survey of the archaic and anachronistic linguistic forms which are jocularly marked in the modern Polish language – in general-purpose dictionaries of the Polish language they are marked with joint i.e. chronological (arch. – archaiczne [archaic], daw. – dawne [obsolete], histor. – archaizm rzeczowy [an instance of historical realia/archaism], historyzm [a historism], przestarz., przest. – przestarzałe [obsolete], wychodzące z użycia [obsolescent]), expressive (żart. – żartobliwe [jocular]), and, in numerous cases – stylistic classifiers (książk. – książkowe [literary], pot.– potoczne [colloquial]), e.g. białogłowa, dziewoja, duszny, konsyliarz, mięsiwo, obertas. Comments of a language historian Summary The author of the analysis tries to establish the beginnings of a press profile and indicate its main specific features. The basis for the analysis are the press articles published in the Warsaw press. The research showed that the first articles that were to present a person and her or his achievements appeared in the context of death notifications. Those were the profiles of well-known people (representatives of the church hierarchy, high-ranking civil servants, members of noble families). A death notification consisted of several parts: an information about the death of a certain person (time, place, circumstances of death, age), a presentation of this person and her or his achievements (forms of occupation, position, merits, advantages of character; religious practices – especially in reference to women), an information about the funeral mass. The processual concept of semiotic transfer – the essence of the media message constructed by the sender – is encompassed by complex processes of sense perception, including registration, denotation and globalization of sense. The text presents a tripartite multimodal structure with the modes of communication that create it – image, sound and noises. A detailed discussion of each of them is followed by the analysis of the functions that, from the recipient’s perspective, they play in a globally understood message from a media broadcaster. These important changes are intended both for the users of the two resources as well as for the editors of the dictionary. For users’ convenience, there are links in each dictionary entry that allow for finding additional examples of the usage of a given lexeme. Moreover, on the corpus website below the search results there is a shortened version of the appropriate dictionary entry and a link to its full entry. This article discusses several phrases, or rather types of phrases, which are often used in the Polish media and in specialist literature to describe road accidents, and which seem to diminish the participation and agency of drivers, and shift the blame onto pedestrians. The author was an esteemed member of the reformation community. In Odpór Gliczner deals with the views of Jesuits. The work is characterized by numerous personal names, which the Protestant author thoughtfully included in the polemics with Catholics. Gliczner subjectively selected the discussed content and the people it refers to. Opinion that Jews had influenced harmfully on the Polish language condition had been popularized in the articles on social, political and cultural subjects. The authors of “Myśl Narodowa” digressed frequently to express their negative attitude towards Jewish assimilation. For this purpose, Author has presented the controversy caused by the adaptation of Przedwiośnie by Stefan Żeromski made by Andrzej Dobosz. Author has selected and analyzed opinions and comments of Internet users and cartoonists posted on websites such as serwis.gazetaprawna.pl, wyborcza.pl, wiadomości.wp.pl.
