The benefits and drawbacks associated with retrofit and retrofill options are discussed. Some examples of present-worth analysis of the various options are provided to help owners determine what combination of retrofit/retrofill would be most appropriate for the particular situation faced.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":254957,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of 1988 Annual Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Conference","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129700759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors' alternative embraces mill-wide control system and business planning, communication software, standard interfaces, real-time operation control, and a phasing-in approach that addresses people and cultural issues. This method does not risk obsolescence or require large initial capital investment, but focuses on manufacturing objectives.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":254957,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of 1988 Annual Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Conference","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121623649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
