DG emerged as an alternative to upgrade transmission lines and increase the capacity of remote power plants. The connection of DG to a Distribution system meets the various challenges like power quality issues, contingency issues, voltage regulation etc. This paper proposes a technique by which a DG can provide voltage supported to the Distribution system by injecting reactive power in addition to real power. In this paper, separate Wind Turbine, Fuel cells based generation systems have been considered. These energy sources are coupled to an induction generator, which is interfaced to the grid through a rectifier inverter pair. The objective is to inject scheduled amount of real and reactive powers in the grid while maintaining the balance between input and output power. A separate Fuzzy controller has been incorporated to regulate the fuel input of fuel cells to compensate the changes in load demand. Normally wind turbine based DG injects the real power in the grid depending upon the prevailing wind speed. In this case DG remains unaffected by the variation in the load demand and the surplus power is fed by the utility itself. The simulations have been performed using MATLAB / SIMULINK.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121054655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abrupt changing of climate and increasing sea level have posed a great threat to human existence, along with its flora and fauna. To monitor the air pollution more effectively, and to provide a precise data model of pollution level, we are implementing space technology in monitoring the Greenhouse gases over a particular region. Our nanosatellite is having a spectrometer as a payload for monitoring the greenhouse pollutants over a given region. We propose in this paper the ground station design techniques to receive the data and process it in our university campus. The Ground Station is capable of providing VHF/UHF communications in the frequency ranges of 144–146MHz and 430–440MHz, with our dedicated satellite in LEO. The proposed designed of circular polarized, crossed yagi antenna will perform autonomous tracking efficiently to acquire data from the satellite. Our ground station consists of the Antenna system including rotor interface, transceiver and terminal node controller (as the Modem system) and the Processing system.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125042755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agriculture is a major contributor of 10–12% of total global anthropogenic Green House Gases (GHG) to the atmosphere, but the emissions vary depending on the land use and the way that the land is managed. Fertilizer, energy - and chemical-intensive farming also contribute to the increased levels of greenhouse gas emissions, primarily as a result of the overuse of fertilizers, land clearance, soil degradation, and intensive animal farming. The Green House Gases (GHG) emissions from agriculture are (i) Nitrous oxide (N2O) resulting from excess fertilizer, results emissions from soil contributing to climate change (ii) Methane (CH4) from rice fields and enteric fermentation of cattle constitute emissions from agriculture (iii) Annual exchanges of CO2 between the atmosphere and agricultural lands, the net flux is estimated to be approximately balanced, with CO2 emissions. Assessing GHG emissions on laboratory, field and large scale is tedious, time consuming and laborious. This paper discuss about the activities and its consequences around the globe.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130564505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So rainfall becomes the inevitable part of every nation which decides the prosperity and economic scenario of a country. In this fast moving world, estimation of rainfall has become a necessity especially when the global heat levels are soaring. The proposed approach here is to use the digital cloud images to predict rainfall. Considering the cost factors and security issues, it is better to predict rainfall from digital cloud images rather than satellite images. The status of sky is found using wavelet. The status of cloud is found using the Cloud Mask Algorithm. The type of cloud can be evolved using the K-Means Clustering technique. As per previous research works done by the researchers, it is stated the Nimbostratus and Cumulonimbus are the rainfall clouds and other clouds like cumulus will produce rain at some rare chances. The type of rainfall cloud is predicted by analyzing the color and density of the cloud images. The cloud images are stored as JPEG file in the file system. Analysis was done over several images. The result predicts the type of cloud with its information like classification, appearance and altitude and will provide the status of the rainfall. The proposed approach can be utilized by common people to just take the photograph of cloud and can come to conclusion about the status of rainfall and to get the desired detail.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132796361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mobile telephone, TV, Radio, Satellite or any type of modern communication is not possible without one type of antenna or the other and no radar works without an antenna. Antenna is a sensor of electromagnetic waves. Electric and magnetic fields exist in a dielectric material and also penetrate the dielectric material freely. When an electromagnetic wave is incident normally on the surface of a dielectric, reflection and transmission takes place. In this investigation, dielectric polarization studies were made in the liquid dielectric mixtures Epichlorohydrin, p-cresol in benzene using standard methods at 308K.The values of dielectric constant, refractive index and density were measured at different concentrations. The dipolar increment value has been calculated using Huyskens method based on Onsager's theory.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131079772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This contain Chromium. Cr (VI) compounds used in leather processing which are highly water soluble, toxic, carcinogenic and a potential ground water contaminant. The MoEF have classified the chromium bearing solid wastes in the hazardous waste category that necessitates the disposal mechanism such as landfilling, stabilization, solidification etc., Many advanced chromium treatment methods were emerged that includes physio-chemical extraction and phytoremediation , but did not give complete solution to the problems. However, the bioremediation is one of the promising technology that is expected to play an important role in soil waste clean-up although, still in the preliminary stage. This is attributed to lack of proper understanding on integrating the geochemistry, geomicrobiology, geomorphology with soil stratification and mode of leachability. Therefore, this study is focused to evaluate the soil profile, geochemistry, geomorphology, biochemical transformation of cationic and anionic balances, specific organism's and their phylogenies for chromium degradation in Cr dumped sites. The present paper describes the important process of soil bioremediation based on the existing literatures, identified the gap in research for mobility of chromium degrading bacteria at different, compacted, non-compacted, porous and non-porous soil strata. A standard bioremediation protocol is the need of the hour to be developed for soil bioremediation in a confined and unconfined soil which can further be extended to other metals/salts such as (Ni, Fe, Zn, Cobalt) in contaminated waste dumping sites.Therefore, the laboratory and field level natural investigation on chromium contaminated waste dumping sites and sparging/injecting clusters of micro organisms that are capable of degrading chromium with a rich carbon source in the soils near Chromate industries at Ranipet, TamilNadu has been proposed as a complete detoxification of chromium before it reaches the groundwater.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133279667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Every digital megabyte is a mile of physical distance. Getting the wrong information is like taking a wrong turn. It wastes time, energy, productivity and money. This growth has led to the demanding needs of effectively using Digital Geography. Intelligent agents can play a role in ensuring this doesn't happen. They are pieces of software focused on organizing and getting the best out of our digital geography. They will become extensions of our will, aiding in the fulfillment of our needs and wants. They will venture into the digital wilderness and bring back to us the list of options we demand. This paper focuses on developing an intelligent agent DIGIGEO that have been applied to tourism industry, especially in the Indian Railways and discusses on how it deals with the limitation of handling time delay of searching information in the tourism sector and dealing with the problem of online ticket booking. A model of the Agent has been proposed along with deployment and a performance evaluation result has been added to highlight on the effectiveness of the system. This paper also gives a brief introduction to intelligent agents and electronic commerce, followed by a review of agent technologies involved in buying and selling and the methodologies to endorse future digital geography with intelligent agents.","PeriodicalId":254761,"journal":{"name":"Recent Advances in Space Technology Services and Climate Change 2010 (RSTS & CC-2010)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116873007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
