Financial data, obtained from secondary sources, for the period of 5 years from 2014 to 2018 using three performance indicators – Earnings after Tax, Return on Equity, and Tobin’s q ratio were analyzed. CEOs’ remuneration comprising salary and all other allowances, disclosed in the annual report were taken. Correlation and bivariate regression analysis were used to find the relationship between the compensation of CEOs and the success of firm performance. EAT and ROE show positive and Tobin’s q ratio shows negative relationship between CEOs’ remuneration. Further, CEOs’ remuneration is observed to cause variability in EAT and ROE.","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128185753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to use behavioural biometrics to save data of patients and make their feature profiles. A check-up can then include the comparison of newly taken data with the feature profiles to facilitate an early diagnosis of brain deteriorating diseases. These biometrics can also be applied to patients in rehabilitation to provide therapy which can be personalised by comparing their data to that of a healthy person. The data would include patients’ gait, handwriting (signature), speech and keystroke dynamics. This novel study is also proposing a framework named BBFP (Behavioural Biometrics in Feature Profiles) for implementing the techniques in hospitals.","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"31 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116338505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the common vehicle or road accidents is the rear-end collision, this occurs when a vehicle crashes or hits a vehicle in front of it. With the growing number of rear-end collisions, various technologies or mechanisms have been created or invented with the advent of technology to avoid and prevent rear-end collisions, such as crash sensors, a collision detection system to identify or measure the distance between two cars traveling in the same path, etc. In recent years, with the help of AI emerging technologies, some studies and research suggest brake light detection for avoidance or as prevention of rear-end collision incidents. The study focused on developing a brake light detection system for the prevention or avoidance of rear-end collision accidents using deep learning with high accuracy. The study uses the YOLOv3 algorithm for training and validation of the datasets along with the Pascal VOC and LabelImg tool for annotating the datasets. Result of testing, the system ranges from 40.0553% to 84.74234% detection accuracy. This supports that the system is capable to detect brake lights to prevent rear-end collisions","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124650949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Civil Code provides for a trifling set of provisions regarding the same. Albeit, there exists the FIDIC provisions – an internationally recognized and accepted set of principles and rules governing construction contracts. This paper aims to comment on the applicability of FIDIC provisions in the U.A.E., the issues that ordinarily arise from the FIDIC conditions against the backdrop of construction law in the U.A.E., along with a remark on the COVID-19 impact regarding the same. The study finds that FIDIC contracts are indeed applicable in the U.A.E. although not to a great extent i.e. not many construction projects are governed by the FIDIC provisions in U.A.E., as there are clauses within the U.A.E. Civil Code (Muqaawala) which briefly fend for the law on construction contracts. With that being said, the FIDIC Red, Pink, Yellow & Silver books amongst the rainbow suite of books are most applicable in the U.A.E. In regards to the existing law on construction contracts in the U.A.E., the study notes areas of contrast such as provisions regarding interest and delay damages as well as areas which blend in against the backdrop of FIDIC provisions such as suspension & termination clauses. This study further examines and interprets the engineer’s role in construction contracts as no specific mention has been made regarding the same in the provisions of the civil code. Moreover, COVID-19 may perhaps be considered a Force Majeure event provided it renders performance of contract impossible and matters affected by COVID can be claimed only upon the discretionary power of the U.A.E. courts to declare the same. In conclusion, the FIDIC contracts can very well be included in construction contracts in the U.A.E. provided, they be drafted with care, keeping in mind the nature of functionality of U.A.E.","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114930530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Batch image processing is crucial in live-video facial detection applications where the real-time processing of many frames is required. The performance of a facial detection application can be drastically improved when facial detection is done in parallel on batches containing multiple images. In this work, we analyze the performance gain due to running a GPU-based facial detection algorithm, in parallel, on batches of images versus the performance of running the GPU-based facial detection algorithm serially on a sequence of single images. We vary the number of images in which faces are to-be detected from 128 images to 1024 images. For each of the prior mentioned image sets, we measure the performance when the number of images per detection batch is varied from 1 image per batch (sequential) to 1024 images per batch in multiples of 2. We find that the technique of batch image processing improves the performance of a face detection application by approximately 10-11x on to-be-detected image sets consisting of 128, 256, and 1024 images. This performance improvement is attributed to a reduction in the communication overhead between the host CPU and GPU occurring on the PCI bus. Moreover, the technique of batch image processing enables the utilization of more of the GPU’s resources that are left underutilized when GPU-based facial detection is done serially on a sequence of single images.","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127362171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A robotic prosthetic hand gives ability to artificially control moments of the arm. New concepts of bionic hands are being developed for mimicking the natural human hand. The pace of improving the bionic technology, it is expected for importance will increase the demand and use of bionic hands. In this paper, a concept of new design of fingers, which acts as compliant for prosthetic applications, are proposed. The concept of human hand replicated to the modern bionic hands are made using topology optimization tool based on geometry of structure. The finite element analysis (FEA) is done using ANSYS workbench tool. Circular and rectangular primitives are selected for static structural analysis with the help of FEA. Deformation and equivalent stresses are obtained from FEA model. Based on FEA output, monolithic structure of prosthetic hand are generated using topology optimization.","PeriodicalId":254711,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Economy (ICCIKE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126933469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
