Unlike similar works reported earlier, our method employs two fragment shaders, one for computing the tetrahedra projections and another for rendering the elements. We achieve interactive rates by storing the model in texture memory and avoiding redundant projections of implementations using vertex shaders. Our algorithm is capable of rendering over 2.0 M Tet/s on current graphics hardware, making it competitive with recent ray-casting approaches, while occupying a substantially smaller memory footprint","PeriodicalId":253871,"journal":{"name":"2006 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing","volume":"9 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115728531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, we have proposed a solution to the depth edge detection problem using a simple modification of the capture setup: a multi-flash camera with flashes appropriately positioned to cast shadows along depth discontinuities in the scene. In this paper, we show that by varying illumination parameters, such as the number, spatial position, and wavelength of light sources, we are able to handle fundamental problems in depth edge detection, including multi-scale depth changes and motion. It simulates viscoplastic properties of materials such as metal, plastic, wax, polymer and lava. The technique consists in modeling the object by the transition of a non-Newtonian fluid with high viscosity to a liquid of low viscosity. During the melting, the viscosity is formulated using the general Newtonian fluids model, whose properties depend on the local temperature. The phase transition is then driven by the heat equation. The fluid simulation framework uses a variation of the Lagrangian method called smoothed particle hydrodynamics. This paper also includes several schemes that improve the efficiency and the numerical stability of the equations","PeriodicalId":253871,"journal":{"name":"2006 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129306683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents an efficient approach for exact collision detection between complex, deformable models. In the last years, statistical methods have been proposed to classify and analyze morphological and anatomical structures of medical images. Most of these techniques work in high-dimensional spaces of particular features such as shapes or statistical parametric maps and have overcome the difficulty of dealing with the inherent high dimensionality of medical images by analyzing segmented structures individually or performing hypothesis tests on each feature separately. In this paper, we present a general multivariate linear framework to identify and analyze the most discriminating hyper-plane separating two populations. The goal is to analyze all the intensity features simultaneously rather than segmented versions of the data separately or feature-by-feature. The conceptual and mathematical simplicity of the approach, which pivotal step is spatial normalization, involves the same operations irrespective of the complexity of the experiment or nature of the data, giving multivariate results that are easy to interpret. To demonstrate its performance we present experimental results on artificially generated data set and real medical data","PeriodicalId":253871,"journal":{"name":"2006 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing","volume":"265 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133527474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This scheme relies on an adaptive binary space partition (BSP) which takes into account the geometric structure of the point set. This choice introduces geometrical rather than combinatorial information in the compression scheme. In order to effectively improve the final compression ratio, this partition is encoded in a progressive manner, decreasing the number of bits used for the quantisation at each subdivision. This strategy distributes the extra cost of the geometry encoding onto the maximal number of points, compressing in average 15% more than previous techniques","PeriodicalId":253871,"journal":{"name":"2006 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing","volume":"844 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116424871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there are many feature tracking algorithms, most of them do not maintain information about the error of the data being tracked. In this paper, we propose a new generic framework that uses the scaled unscented transform (SUT) to augment arbitrary feature tracking algorithms, by introducing Gaussian random variables (GRV) for the representation of features' locations uncertainties. Here, we apply the framework to the well-understood Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) feature tracker, giving birth to what we call unscented KLT (UKLT). It tracks probabilistic confidences and better rejects errors, all on-line, and leads to more robust computer vision applications. In each captured image, the segmentation takes place where pixels belonging to the hands are separated from the background based on background extraction and skin-color segmentation. A time-adaptive mixture of Gaussians is used to model the distribution of each pixel color value. For an input image, every new pixel value is checked, deciding if it matches with one of the existing Gaussians based on the distance from the mean in terms of the standard deviation. The best matching distribution parameters are updated and its weight is increased. It is assumed that the values of the background pixels have low variance and large weight. These matched pixels, considered as foreground, are compared based on skin color thresholds. The hands position and other attributes are tracked by frame. That enables us to distinguish the hand movement from the background and other objects in movement, as well as to extract the information from the movement for dynamic hand gesture recognition","PeriodicalId":253871,"journal":{"name":"2006 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124748407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
