In this short paper we presenting a series of hardware and software solutions integrated into a novel infrastructure that gives smart capabilities to a more unusual target – a NATO role 2E mobile military hospital. Our work is motivated by our own analysis of such a medical facility deployed for a training exercise. In addition to traditional logistics problems, several specific requirements have been defined in order to help motivate and define our complex WSN based infrastructure. The proposed solutions are based on off-the-shelf hardware components and freely available supported software components.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131156599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the LEDs’ capability of switching to different light intensities at fast rate, these lighting solutions could be used for both illumination and transferring data. This characteristic of the LEDs has led to the development of a new technology, known as Visible Light Communication (VLC). In this type of communication, the receiver is usually a photodetector. Lately, the tendency is to also use video cameras to receive the transmitted data. Solutions exist, but they use expensive cameras that can capture over 800 frames per second (fps). The communication proposed in the paper uses a LED as a transmitter and a camera with a common frame rate (120 fps) as the receiver. At those frame rates the challenge is to use a code that avoids flickering and does not need a synchronization between the transmitter and the receiver. A version for such code is also presented in the paper. The system was implemented and tested. The results confirm the functioning of the proposed low frame rate VLC communication system.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126575061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, such grids exhibit high load variation spanning from low (during vacation) to high (during winter semesters, for example). Thus, the voltage regulation in low voltage grids becomes important. The purpose of this work is to present five control strategies for voltage regulation based either on using electricity storage, transformer tap changing or on a combination of both.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127168654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have also identified an additional technical solution for mobile electrical storage, placed at the end of the tram line. The research effort was directed in two main ways. First was identifying the receiver assembly and the functionality of the modern tram station and modeling its operating cycles. The solution was subjected to an economic analysis to identify the feasibility of implementing this solution in a smart city. The second was to identify the optimal brake energy recovery solution as well as the energy efficiency of this technology chain. This approach was supported by a team of engineers from RATB, with whom we kept constant contact and validated (or invalidated) the various technical solutions originally proposed.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114097510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Information will be acquired in a non-invasive way through several electrodes applied to the human body at specific points. The bio-potentials will be taken and sent via the electrodes and connectors to the USB-6218 acquisition board. Implementation of the system is done without any external hardware amplification or filtering hardware. Data acquisition and processing have been done through the development platform and environment called LabVIEW using graphical code. After the development and implementation of the virtual acquisition and processing tools, a control and display panel has been developed, playing the role of user interface. Several subjects of different age, height, body mass, and sexes have been evaluated within this work, in order to observe a wide range of waveforms and significant signal parameters. The goal of the method is to obtain the magnetostatic characteristics of the switched reluctance motor. The method focuses on maximal computation time reduction and simultaneously on keeping the solution accuracy. The model of the artificial neural network is based on reduced FEM simulation. For neural network training and testing selected data from FEM simulation were applied. The model of ANN was used to obtain full magnetostatic characteristics of the SRM. Comparison with numerical magnetic field solver proved the hybrid model reliability. To create the ANN model we applied APLAC programming language and embedded libraries of this software, for FEM simulation we used the FEMM tool. The novelty of the paper is the code, which automates date transfer between APLAC and FEMM software. With the use of the hybrid FEM-ANN method we obtained significant accelerations of the field computations.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121282755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensitivities of the geometric parameters of the macro-model’s components are calculated and inserted into a parametric RF macro-model. The extraction algorithm uses the results obtained from three RF simulations performed on the field model of the device. The solving of the numerical problem was performed with the finite integrals technique and using a closed form fitting procedure for the TL-lumped macro-model. A procedure that calculates the sensitivity of the RF output with respect to the parameter that varies is included in a finite integration technique in-house code. The methodology is validated for a capacitive switch from the literature.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128616720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The assessment of PV panels is made on the large area of imposed condition existing in operation. On the first level of assessment is taking into account the variation of current and voltage on the terminals of PV panels. At the second level is tacked the dust influence on the output power of PV panels. This general method allows the extending of evaluation in a multi-dimensional space, where all the current techniques has a slight accurateness. The developed method is a general one and may be successful applied for all the types of PV panels with the help only on a small amount of data.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114787498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
